FromSoftware has issued a new Elden Ring update in the form of hotfix 1.07.1 that looks to adjust game balance and address one of the open world action-RPG's lingering bugs. This latest Elden Ring update comes hot off the heels of update 1.07, which was larger in scope and aimed to provide PvP-specific balance changes.

Developer FromSoftware has updated Elden Ring numerous times since the game's launch earlier this year. These updates have addressed fan feedback, making balance changes as necessary while also adding new content in some cases. New Elden Ring quests, characters, and more have been added to the game as part of its various updates, though many are still holding out hope that a full-fledged DLC expansion may be on the way at some point in the near future.

While there's been no announcement about any kind of Elden Ring DLC expansion, fans do have a new update to download as of today. Available now across all platforms, Elden Ring update 1.07.1 shortens the effect duration of the Endure Ash of War. It seems that the changes made to Endure in update 1.07 were a bit too drastic and "had a greater impact on the game" than FromSoftware anticipated. The update also makes it so Elden Ring players using the Inescapable Frenzy Incantation will now have the proper amount of FP reduced when they use it.

Barring any unforeseen issues with this latest patch, it's likely that this will be the last major update for Elden Ring for a while. Elden Ring updates have become more infrequent the farther that we've gotten from the game's launch date, and it's likely that trend will continue moving forward. If the Elden Ring DLC expansion rumors are true, it seems FromSoftware would rather work on that instead of continuing to release frequent updates for the game, which is understandable.

However, the argument could be made that Elden Ring isn't really in need of frequent updates anymore. Elden Ring enjoyed near-universal acclaim at launch, and so it seems many fans would have been satisfied had it been left alone after release. FromSoftware has a reputation as one of the best game development studios in the world, though, and that's partly because of its dedication to improving its games even long after they've launched.

It will be interesting to see what future Elden Ring updates entail. In the meantime, Elden Ring fans can download hotfix 1.07.1 and get their game up to date.
