Dark Souls 2 had its fair share of flaws, but one of its best traits - which some would argue is even better than its predecessor's - is the game's vast catalog of weapons. Of all Dark Souls 2's 200+ weapons, the Twinblades were some of the best. Featuring an entirely unique set of animations and attacks, the Twinblades in Dark Souls 2 realized players' Darth Maul fantasies while simultaneously giving the game's builds even more variety. Flash forward a few years, and FromSoftware brings its majestic set of Twinblades to Elden Ring.

Featuring even more unique animations than ever, Elden Ring's set of Twinblades are some of the best weapons in the game, with an option suited for just about every type of build. Though there are only six of them, each Twinblade in Elden Ring is worth hunting down and trying out, but some are more suited for battle than others.

S-Tier

Elden Ring Eleonora Poleblade
  • Eleonora's Poleblade: It may have the weakest physical damage output of any Twinblade, but Eleonara's Poleblade has a few tricks up its sleeve, easily making it one of the best weapons in Elden Ring. Along with being one of the best looking weapons in the game, Eleonara's Poleblade dishes out 72 points of physical damage, while also dealing 72 points of fire damage per hit. On top of this double-whammy, Eleonara's Poleblade is also capable of inflicting a bleed status effect in just a few hits, making it extremely helpful against bosses. The only real downside to this weapon is the inability to equip any Ashes of War on it.

A-Tier

Tarnished wielding Godskin Peeler and Twinblade Elden Ring on Forge of Giants
  • Godskin Peeler: The Godskin Peeler is an excellent choice for those using a Dexterity build, as the weapon begins with a good Dex scaling class of C, which is only made better with upgrades. On top of the weapon's great scaling, the Godskin Peeler also packs a mean punch, dealing out 121 damage per swing. To top it all off, the Godskin Peeler has a unique thrusting attack and has the powerful Black Flame Tornado weapon skill.
  • Gargoyle's Twinblade: Boasting the highest damage of any Twinblade, the Gargoyle's Twinblade delivers 123 damage per hit, and becomes immensely powerful when upgraded. The Gargoyle's Twinblade also scales very well in Strength, making it perfect for a beefy build.

B-Tier

Elden Ring Gargoyles Black Blades
  • Twinned Knight Swords: There's nothing too special about the Twinned Knight Swords when compared to the rest of the offerings in this tier list, but it does deliver a solid amount of damage, causing 122 points with every hit that lands. The Twinned Knight Swords don't scale all that well either, but with enough upgrades, it's still more than capable of taking on Elden Ring's tougher enemies.
  • Gargoyle's Black Blades: The Gargoyle's Black Blades is a similar story to Eleonara's Poleblade, as although it only dishes out 81 physical damage, it also deals 97 points of holy damage with each successful hit. Unfortunately, the Gargoyle's Black Blades aren't found until much later on in Elden Ring, by which point the player most likely has the rest of the Twinblades on this list.

C-Tier

  • Twinblade: Through no fault of its own, the standard Twinblade makes the bottom of this tier list. This is by no means an indictment on the weapon, as it's still one of the most flexible and fun options in the game for just about any build, but its competition is just so great that there's no other place for it. With a more than respectable base damage of 119, the standard Twinblade is a great early-game weapon, and can be found fairly easily at the start of the player's journey. Its scaling options are also solid, and its Spinning Slash weapon skill is a nice addition, but it's just edged out by the rest of its class.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
