Despite only being out for a couple of months, Elden Ring has managed to garner a massive amount of attention and popularity. This is partially owed to the new open-world format that FromSoftware has implemented in Elden Ring, which has allowed for extremely open-ended content for players to approach. While this change in structure has opened new doors in terms of gameplay, it also sometimes causes things to go awry.

Since its release, players have encountered a number of glitches within Elden Ring. Most of these glitches aren't consistent enough to break the composition of the experience, but a number of them are quite unexpected and hilarious. For instance, one player encountered a runebear in Elden Ring that sunk through the ground. Now, another player has witnessed something similarly unexpected with the player's in-game mount.

Over on Reddit, a user named DogWoofWoof22 posted a gameplay clip that showed Torrent running away from the player after dismounting him. What makes this such a bizarre occurrence is that Torrent is supposed to disappear once the player dismounts from his back. So, just seeing Torrent running off into the distance without being summoned back to the player is quite hilarious to witness.

Of all the divergent gameplay elements introduced in Elden Ring, Torrent adds quite a lot to active gameplay. Being able to summon a horse during active gameplay enhances the experience, especially in terms of movement in traversal. Torrent allows players access to areas in Elden Ring that would require players to go through multiple scripted segments in other FromSoftware games.

It's amazing how much popularity Elden Ring has managed to garner over such a short timeframe. This could simply be due to the influence that FromSoftware games have had on the gaming community since the advent of Dark Souls. Not to mention George R.R. Martin's involvement with the story and worldbuilding of Elden Ring likely drew plenty of new players in as a result.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Elden Ring going forward. While no DLC for Elden Ring has been officially announced yet, the likelihood of DLC making its way into Elden Ring is quite high. Given the success of DLC for games like Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne, it seems like Elden Ring would greatly benefit from additional content.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
