Elden Ring appears to have an incredibly active multiplayer community. Other games by FromSoftware also retained players for many years, so it’s not surprising to see users engage with the multiplayer component of Elden Ring.
While many players have probably finished the game and moved on, some are testing out new builds and strategies in PvP. Some users are also going AFK to farm runes in Elden Ring, but fans have discovered ways to counter such methods. Invasions have played a key role in the multiplayer aspect of other FromSoftware games, and Elden Ring is no different. Now, one player shares a terrifying story of what happened when they got invaded.
A Redditor named AccuratelyNamedUser was with a friend when the invasion took place at 1 PM inside Stormveil Castle. They waited for 35 minutes for the invader, having the name StormveilStalker, to appear and left the Site of Grace after getting bored. The invader hit them with Rot Pots from a discrete position, and the two targets spent 20 more minutes in hiding. After giving up, they started running through the level and reached the location of the boss fight against the Grafted Scion. The invader landed the first blow as they stabbed AccuratelyNamedUser’s friend in the back, dealing 768 damage and killing them.
The host spent another hour looking over their shoulder. AccuratelyNamedUser mentions that they considered leaving the fight but wanted to avenge their fallen friend. The player made it to a Site of Grace, but the invader had waited patiently for their return. They stabbed AccuratelyNamedUser in the back, killing them instantly, and used a T-Pose gesture to celebrate the victory. The invasion lasted at least two hours, and AccuratelyNamedUser fears the return of StormveilStalker every time they are invaded in Elden Ring.
The tale doesn’t end there, as the person playing StormveilStalker found this Reddit post and commented on it with clips of their successful invasions. They also shared a video of them throwing Rot Pots at their enemies with incredible accuracy. One user added StormveilStalker to a list titled “The Boogeymen of the Lands Between,” which includes the likes of The Academy Acupuncturist and The Haligtree Huntsman. Both the host and the invader showed remarkable patience and determination to stay in the game. Invasions in Elden Ring are usually over in a minute or two, and very few last for more than an hour like this memorable encounter.
