Elden Ring has taken over the video game industry since it released, managing to infuriate and endear itself to players all at the same time. One gamer has managed to beat Elden Ring ridiculously quickly, despite the iconic FromSoftware challenge standing in their way.

Elden Ring launched on February 25, and since then, it's all anyone seems to be playing or talking about. It certainly follows suit from previous FromSoftware titles. Elden Ring is incredibly difficult and ensures that players are ground down to a pulp before they manage to beat any of the impressive bosses littered throughout the world.

It is taking some players hours upon hours just to beat one boss, never mind the entire game. Some players are even struggling to defeat non-boss enemies. Yet, YouTuber LilAggy has defied the odds, and carried out the breathtaking feat of completing the game in a total of 59 minutes and 38 seconds. At the time of writing, this is a record speedrun for the game. This is even more impressive when it's considered that Elden Ring has only been out for 12 days.

In equally impressive fashion, another Elden Ring player managed to get through the game in 2.5 hours. However, with the added caveat of not succumbing to death once during their playthrough. The feat of not dying during a playthrough would be impressive in its own right for most games, but for a FromSoftware title, such an accomplishment is extremely rare.

Despite the enormous challenge that Elden Ring sets players, it has been a huge success so far. The title has reportedly sold 10 million copies on PC already. This is alongside Elden Ring reportedly being the best-selling game (outside of FIFA and Call of Duty) since Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018.

Such impressive sales figures will surely have worked to calm the nerves of Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki. It was revealed in an interview that the director was nervous leading up to the launch of Elden Ring. Despite the mountainous levels of anticipation present for the game, there was always going to be an element of risk with Elden Ring. Attempting to adapt the iconic Dark Souls formula to fit an open-world setting was not a guaranteed recipe for success. However, it goes without saying that FromSoftware nailed that adaptation with Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
