Elden Ring never fails to surprise its fans. The game is packed with many secrets and original concepts during the gameplay. In the early game, tarnished can discover a passage that leads to the Dragon Communion; a place where they can buy powerful Incantations using Dragon Hearts. However, since the start of Elden Ring, most players will likely notice how scarce dragons actually are in Limgrave.
Luckily, with a little adventure into the unknown, Elden Ring rewards curious players by helping them to find a sleeping dragon. It won’t react to any hit that it receives and will reward players with 74k Runes and 5 dragon hearts upon its death. However, to find the sleeping dragon in Elden Ring, players must first complete a few steps.
How To Find The Sleeping Dragon In Elden Ring
To reach the sleeping dragon and kill it, there are many steps that players should follow. While the process might seem complicated though, the rewards are definitely worth it and better than any other task players could do during their playthrough, especially in the early game.
Defeat Tibia Mariner And Get A Deathroot
Tibia Mariner is a world boss in Elden Ring. Upon its defeat, it will grant players a Deathroot item. This item is needed for players to fast travel north of Caelid, where the Sleeping Dragon is located. There are many Tibia Mariners scattered around the Lands Between in Elden Ring, however, the easiest to spot and defeat is inside the Summonwater Village, east of Limgrave.
Meet D, Hunter Of The Dead, And Travel To Caelid
After acquiring the Deathroot in Elden Ring, players could head back to the RoundTable Hold. There, the tarnished will meet with D, Hunter of the Dead. Showing him the Deathroot, he will offer players to meet Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman. Tarnished must accept his introduction, after which, the NPC will mark the map to give players easy access to reach the Clergyman.
Follow the mark on the map will lead to a Sending Gate, east of Limgrave.
Interacting with the Sending Gate will teleport players to Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow, north of Caelid.
Players should then enter the Bestial Sanctum and interact with the Lost Grace of Power. This site can act as a checkpoint.
Move South To Reach Fort Forath
Next, players will need to ride south until they come upon a bridge with the Flying Dragon Greyll on it.
A Site of Lost Grace is available before crossing the bridge, another much-needed checkpoint for the long journey across Caelid to get the Dragon Hearts in Elden Ring.
Crossing the bridge, players have to ride south as fast as they can, avoiding the two world bosses, the Flying Dragon Greyll, and Putrid Avatar. It's worth noting that the Putrid Avatar only appears under Minor Erdtrees.
Behind the Erdtree, there’s a Spirit Spring. The Spring of air can elevate players right up into the mountains, close enough to the Spirit Spring. While in the air, the tarnished should notice a Fort nearby. Players must reach this Fort.
Another Site of Lost Grace is stationed in front of the Fort. Light it up, and players will immediately notice the sleeping dragon. The dragon looks tired or dying, which will make it an easy fight for the tarnished.
Fight The Sleeping Dragon
Although the sleeping dragon has massive HP, defeating it isn’t that hard. Tarnished can use weapons that cause bleed to take a portion of the sleeping dragon’s HP every few hits. Defeating the sleeping dragon will reward players with a whopping 74k Runes (although the game will say +50,000) and five Dragon Hearts, which can then be used to trade for new strong Elden Ring Incantations.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
