Early in their Elden Ring adventure, players will be invited to visit the Roundtable Hold. The Roundtable Hold in Elden Ring acts as a hub of sorts, where players can interact with various merchants, advance NPC quests, and more. One of the most important NPCs in Elden Ring's Roundtable Hold is Sir Gideon Ofnir, The All-Knowing, who provides useful information to players as they attempt to collect Great Runes and beat the game. However, Elden Ring players have noticed a rather disturbing detail about Sir Gideon Ofnir and his helmet. Please note that this article will have major SPOILERS for Elden Ring.

Sir Gideon Ofnir in Elden Ring has a unique helmet that he wears at all times, and at first glance, it looks like it's adorned with a metallic beard. However, upon closer inspection, Elden Ring players will notice that the helmet is instead lined with ears. It was pointed out in the comments that the Elden Ring intro video features Sir Gideon Ofnir laying in a pile of ears while holding a box full of eyeballs, so it definitely fits his theme.

Sir Gideon Ofnir's defining characteristic is that he is "All-Knowing," and so it makes sense that his symbols would be ears and eyeballs. Sir Gideon Ofnir seems to know everything that the player character does in the game, and there are theories about how he accomplishes this. One interesting theory is that Elden Ring's Teardrop Scarabs are actually used by Gideon Ofnir to spy on the player's actions.

Sir Gideon Ofnir is found in the Roundtable Hold for the majority of Elden Ring, but he eventually relocates to Leyndell, Capital of Ash. It's here where players have to battle Sir Gideon Ofnir in a boss fight, and he is in fact one of the final mandatory bosses that players encounter in the entire game. Sir Gideon Ofnir has some powerful magic at his disposal, but he is otherwise one of the easier bosses in Elden Ring.

After players make quick work of Sir Gideon Ofnir, they are then free to continue on and fight Hoarah Loux, aka Godfrey, and finally Radagon and the Elden Beast. Those fights are much more challenging than the encounter with Sir Gideon Ofnir, but the fight with Ofnir may resonate with players more simply because they may have had more interactions with him over the course of their Elden Ring adventure.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
