In Elden Ring there are lots of items that serve the same purpose as items in Dark Souls with a different name. Remembrances are Elden Ring the counterpart to Souls of Lords or other Boss Souls. They can be earned by defeating certain bosses throughout the game, and there are a few things players can do with each one.

Beating Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy, rewards players with the Remembrance of the Blasphemous, a high-level Remembrance with rewards that can easily carry players to the end of the game. Just beat Rykard and it's yours - a task easier said than done, though it's not the worst fight in the game thanks to a gimmick mechanic in the boss room.

Consume It For 50,000 Runes

The first thing that the Remembrance of the Blasphemous can be used for is straight-up Runes. All Remembrances yield items, but they can also be destroyed to give the player a huge boost to their total Runes. The later in the game you get, the less beneficial this boost becomes.

However if you've managed to beat Rykard relatively early, the 50,000 Runes gained by consuming his Remembrance can be the difference between leveling up again and not. Later on, it's best to only consume Remembrances if you either duplicate them or are 100% certain you will never use either item.

Trade It With Enia For The Blasphemous Blade Or Rykard's Rancor

Generally, it's a good idea to trade in Remembrances for the Boss Weapons and Spells associated with each. Sure, the flat Runes can be helpful for leveling up, but you can also farm enemies for a bit to the same effect. The items received upon trading in the Remembrance of the Blasphemous are much more useful than just consuming it, as you never know what build you will go with for New Game Plus.

The Blasphemous Blade is one of the game's best Faith weapons and has an Ash of War that can knock down all but the largest of bosses. The spell Rykard's Rancor sees the player launch dozens of spirits at their target, much like a stronger version of the Omen Bairn item does but in the form of a spell instead of a consumable.

Visit A Walking Mausoleum To Make A Copy

If you want both of the items that the Remembrance of the Blasphemous grants, or you just need a 50,000 Rune boost to get to the next level, consider duplicating the Remembrance at a Walking Mausoleum. These bell-toting living monoliths can be taken down by striking the white growths on their legs or body, after which players can go inside to interact with the Mausoleum.

Remembrances can be duplicated even if they have already been used, so you don't need to worry about keeping the Remembrance of the Blasphemous in your inventory. Just be careful as you can only use each Walking Mausoleum to duplicate a Remembrance once.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
