There is an absolutely massive variety of weapons in Elden Ringsome return from other FromSoftware games, like the Zweihander, and others are entirely unique to Elden Ring, like the Lordsworn Greatsword. The Whip, a classic item from the very start of the Souls series, is one of these returning weapons, given new life and power in Elden Ring.

There are lots of fast weapons in the game, but the Whip is unique for having completely unavoidable damage. It's a bit more powerful in Elden Ring than previous games, too, making it a weapon every player should try out at least once (even if it is a Dex-based weapon).

The Whip is one of the few weapons in Elden Ring that will deal damage even if a player is blocking, and attacks with a Whip can't be parried, either. However, Whips can't deal Critical Damage, so they are usually paired with another weapon in the same hand. There are a number of Whip-type weapons in the game, but the regular Whip is the first one players can find.

Because of its innate shield-avoiding nature, the Whip is a weapon that is best served in PvP and against enemies that hardly lower their shields. It's good against Godrick Soldiers in Stormveil Keep, for example, but it's just as good against Invaders who do nothing but Parry. It's also one of the few weapons to come with the Kick skill innately, furthering one's ability to break an enemy's guards.

How To Get The Whip In Elden Ring

Elden Ring Whip Guide Location Castle Morne Cliffs

The Whip is found in Castle Morne, at the southernmost point of southeast Limgrave. Get through the main courtyard of the Castle and head behind the group of demi-humans to find a ladder leading upwards. There are a few flying enemies to dispatch of here, but once they're dead, head across the walkway and look for a place to drop down to a visible Site of Lost Grace behind the wall.

From the Behind The Castle Lost Grace, head down the cliffs and jump onto the domed building just to the left of a narrow bridge (there are a lot of demi-humans sitting here, but they're non-hostile). Keep heading down until you reach a building with a hole in the roof. Carefully descend by dropping onto wooden beams, and you will find the Whip on a corpse in the room below. Be careful, though, as there are a few rats and a demi-human in the corner waiting to ambush you.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
