An Elden Ring fan seems to have discovered the real-life version of the Eye of Yelough. In the game, the Eye of Yelough is a crafting material described as a "shrub fruit bursting with ripened pulp," which can be used to make Clarifying Boluses and White Cured Meat.

Released in 2022, From Software's Elden Ring lets players explore the Lands Between while fending off challenging enemies and bosses, which would require them to have the strongest build/s possible in order to survive. Elden Ring crafting materials in particular are important elements to Elden Ring's gameplay as they can create throwable weapons, power-ups, and status ailment cures, among others, that players can use during battle. These materials can often be found in certain areas or are dropped by foes. For example, the Eye of Yelough can be found in Ailing Village and Callu Baptismal Church, and can also be picked up after defeating a Frenzied Troll Knight.

While Elden Ring is set in a fantasy world created by George R.R. Martin, one fan found a real fruit that looked identical to the Eye of Yelough. In a Reddit post, user Kullthebarbarian shared a photo of a bunch of Guarana fruits (also known as the "eyes of the Amazon"), which are fruits native to Brazil that have red skin with black bean-like seeds poking out that resembled eyeballs. The seeds are edible, and are said to contain antioxidant properties and have more caffeine than regular coffee beans. Many players in the comments couldn't help but agree that the fruits did look like the Eye of Yelough, noting that the real thing looked terrifying.

While From Software never mentioned if the Eye of Yelough was based on the Guarana fruit, many Elden Ring fans seemed convinced that it was. Both of them have health properties too as the Eye of Yelough is used to relieve pain, while the Guarana fruit is said to be great for reducing fatigue and boost energy. The difference between them is that the Guarana fruit can be consumed, usually in juice form, with no problem, while the Eye of Yelough might be lethal in large doses as it's known to be a dangerous intoxicant.

Previously, many other Elden Ring fans have found real-life items that look like they came from the game, such as a giant smithing stone. There have also been fans who try to replicate weapons and other accessories for their decor and cosplay needs.

It's almost been a year since Elden Ring came out, but many players continue to find interesting ways to beat the game, from speedruns to using unconventional controllers. Meanwhile, From Software is gearing up to release Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon some time this year, so players might have a new game to spend hours on soon.

Elden Ring is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
