Elden Ring's title may be more appropriate than ever, considering how long From Software fans have waited for the game's release date to be announced, but it's nonetheless a reality. Elden Ring is scheduled to be delivered on February 25. Between now and then, From Software and Bandai Namco will continue rolling out details about the highly anticipated RPG. One detail that appears to have leaked early is that Elden Ring will have both Graphic and Performance visual modes, at least on PlayStation 5.

The leak comes as part of the recently published details regarding Elden Ring's collector's edition. The GameStop listing for the PS5 version of Elden Ring's collector's edition has a list of planned features for the RPG. Those features include confirmation of both a "Graphic Mode" and a "Performance Mode" available to players under the heading of "Enhanced Experience." The description explains that these options offer a personalized experience "using the power of new generation of consoles."

There are no surprises to be found with regards to these two visual modes for Elden Ring. The Graphic Mode will prioritize resolution, offering "up to" 4K, which seemingly implies a dynamic resolution at work, and likely also means a 30FPS target. Performance Mode will instead prioritize frame rate, offering "up to" 60FPS and likely dropping resolution significantly. Without technical analysis of the final game, however, it's exact specifications of each mode aren't clear.

This will be the first time that a From Software game offers console gamers the option between prioritizing visuals or frame rate and is certain to be warmly welcomed. Some From Software fans will love the option to make Elden Ring as visually impressive as possible. Gameplay-focused fans will get an option for 60FPS, an optimal choice for crisp combat and reaction times. While it's a shame that hardware doesn't currently support both 4K and 60fps, having the option between the two is the next best thing.

It should be acknowledged, of course, that this isn't a guaranteed confirmation that Elden Ring will have these visual options. While GameStop's listing of Elden Ring is very likely officially provided, until Bandai Namco announces it, there's always the possibility that plans change. Also note that this is a PS5 listing for Elden Ring, so it's unclear if it's a next-gen exclusive feature for the time being. It's unlikely plans would change at this point, but anything's possible.

With less than four months left until Elden Ring's launch, From Software is clearly putting the final touches in its new action game. Yesterday's 15-minute Elden Ring gameplay trailer is evidence of that. There are certain to be more Elden Ring reveals in the weeks to come. Finally, From Software fans are being rewarded for their patience.

Elden Ring releases February 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
