Elden Ring players have had plenty of time to get used to its expansive world and get to know the game’s challenging bosses. As a tribute to Godrick the Grafted, one of the bosses in Elden Ring, one player remade this character to look as it might have on a PlayStation 1.

Elden Ring is the latest game developed by FromSoftware and is an action role-playing game. The game focuses on combat and, unlike other games from this developer, gives players an open world to explore. Demaking games is a process where players remake a game for an older platform, downgrading its graphics.

This post comes from u/SickChickenStudios, and it is quite the sight to behold. Pictured here is Godrick the Grafted, ruler of Stormveil Castle and the final boss in that area of Elden Ring. Instead of the highly detailed and horrific version players will remember from their game, this version looks straight out of a PlayStation 1. This version of the boss is much more pixelated with all sense of detail basically gone. Godrick’s numerous arms and intricate outfit are only really hinted at here, leaving the viewer to imagine what this boss might look like if they had never seen it before. While this version is a bit less detailed, u/SickChickenStudios’s version is horrifying in a way that relies on a viewer’s imagination.

Unfortunately, u/SickChickenStudios doesn’t mention how they went about constructing this demake of Godrick the Grafted. In general, however, demakes start with textures layered on top of simple shapes that function as the basic character. For those players looking to come across Godrick the Grafted in Elden Ring, they need to make their way through Stormveil Castle and the closest Site of Grace is in the Secluded Cell in this area.

Demaking games has become a bit of a trend as of late with FromSoftware game Bloodborne seeing its own partial demake released. These fan projects combine the latest worlds and characters and add in a nostalgia factor in a way pleasing to a good deal of players.

There are some who may not share that feeling, however. Though demaking a game may trigger nostalgia for some players, it may not do the same for those who never played older console games. Either way, this player brought a new boss back in time with this interesting creation.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
