Elden Ring players have a lot of choices at their fingertips when it comes to creating builds and theory crafting. There are those that opt to dish out as much damage as possible by stacking Strength and using overbearing heavy weapons that can crush their foes in a single blow. There are others that opt to snag magically-infused items and sling powerful damage-dealing spells from distance. There are even some that take a slow and methodical approach to combat, preferring to slowly damage their enemies over time while they dance around them or block their attacks.

Players that gravitate toward a tactical, long-lasting combat style may want to consider using the Poison status effect as their primary weapon. There are a lot of Incantations, Sorceries, and weapons that will apply Poison buildup, as well as some Ash of War that are geared towards the status effect. One good example is the Poison Moth Flight Ash of War, which gives players a damage-dealing attack that will do additional damage if its follow-up attack hits an enemy that's suffering from the damage over time effect. Here's how players can find Poison Moth Flight in Elden Ring.

Where To Find The Poison Moth Flight Ash Of War

Elden Ring Caelid Highway South Waypoint

Thankfully, finding the Poison Moth Flight Ash of War is pretty simple, but players will have to travel to one of the most imposing (and annoying) zones found in Elden Ring. The Poison Moth Flight is in possession of a Night's Cavalry, which stalks the barren wastelands of Caelid, looking for any wayward souls to strike down with its long-reaching flail. To reach this mini-boss, players will need to head towards the Caelid Highway South Site of Grace. Those that have yet to head to the Scarlet Rot-infested zone can reach it by heading to the Northeast corner of Limgrave and passing over the short stone wall a fair distance past the Summonwater Village Outskirts Site of Grace. Following the road to the Northeast from this Site of Grace will put players on the path to the wall separating the regions and give them access to the Smoldering Church Site of Grace.

From the Smoldering Church, players can simply follow the nearby road, which will head East and then bend to the South. Traveling this road a long distance will eventually put players at Caelid Highway South. Once there, they'll want to pass time until it's Nightfall, as the Night's Cavalry only spawns at night. Players will find the mini-boss patrolling the road directly to the east of the Site of Grace. Once they slay the creature, they'll automatically obtain the Poison Moth Flight Ash of War.

The Night's Cavalry can be a bit of a headache for those that aren't adequately leveled. It's recommended that players stay as close to the main road as possible, hovering near the area between the Site of Grace and where the Night's Cavalry is spotted, as Caelid is rife with annoying enemies that can make their way into an already painful fight. Players can gain a bit of an edge against Night's Cavalry by using Torrent and "jousting" with the mini-boss. If they deal enough damage to the boss' horse, it will perish and throw the boss onto the ground, allowing players to strike it while it's down. It is important to note that the creature will summon its horse once more after a short time, repeating the process. Players should also be careful around this Night's Cavalry as it uses a flail to attack, which can cause Hemmorhage buildup, hitting players with a painful burst of damage if the meter fills completely.

What Does Poison Moth Flight Do?

Elden Ring Poison Moth Flight Stats

Poison Moth Flight is an Ash of War that is capable of transforming a variety of weapons into tools capable of inflicting Poison buildup on enemies. Players can use this particular Ash of War on Curved Swords, Daggers, Katanas, Straight Swords, and Thrusting Swords. By choosing the Poison affinity, the weapon will build up Poison stacks on foes, eventually breaking into full-blown Poison, which is noted by a toxic cloud surrounding the enemy.

The secondary skill of Poison Moth Flight can cause quite a bit of damage to enemies under the right circumstances. The Ash of War allows players to infuse the blade with poison and slash forward quickly, striking the enemy in front of them in a cone-like fashion. It has a small windup, but the actual attack is fairly quick. It does decent damage if players are built correctly and only costs 7 FP per cast, making it relatively low-cost. It will also deal considerably more damage if it strikes a foe that is already suffering from the Poison status effect. It's a great option for those looking for an Ash of War that will grant them Poison buildup in addition to offering a "lunging-style" skill that strikes in a wide-sweeping arc.
