One Elden Ring's perilous fight with Hoarah Loux shows the importance of putting points into the Vigor stat. Elden Ring, just like previous FromSoftware titles, give the player the ability to shape their build the way they want to, whether it's good for them or not. One of these ways is leveling one's stats using runes procured by playing the game, with eight main stats that the player can put points into. Sometimes, the player will find ways to make their Elden Ring character hilariously unbalanced, but in some cases, a player could possibly make things harder for themselves if they don't know what to do with their stats.

Hoarah Loux is one phase of one of Elden Ring's final bosses to defeat, in an onslaught of bosses that starts when the player finishes with Crumbling Farum Azula and enters Leyndell, Ashen Capital. One of these bosses is Godfrey, the first Elden Lord, and his first phase of the boss fight involves his heavy attacks that cause explosions and stomps with a large impact radius. Godfrey alone can be relentless with his attacks, but in his second phase, he changes to the more aggressive Hoarah Loux, with attacks that involve grabbing players and slamming them against the ground.

It is in this phase that one player nearly died to the warrior had it not been for the length of their Vigor. Posting to r/Eldenring, user Cake_Johnny uploaded a video of their character fighting against Hoarah Loux. The boss' health bar is nearly empty, but Hoarah Loux is using grabs that have been able to kill two players at once, taking chunks of the player's health at a time. The player does find time to heal just enough before the next attack, nearly getting killed each time before finally the player strikes and takes down the first Elden Lord.

In the comments, many users gave praise to the player over their ability to get through the fight alive. While some did say the player's heavy armor helped, others say it hindered them, that it made them slower and more prone to attacks. Others, however, did say that the player passed the "vigor check," basically a test to see how many points an Elden Ring player put into their Vigor.

While having good equipment and being able to dodge well can take a player far, stats are just as important to creating a good build. Many times, there are players who have been killed instantly by Elden Ring's bosses because they didn't level Vigor enough. Vigor is one of the most important stats in Elden Ring, and making sure it's leveled up is a good way to survive the challenges of the Lands Between.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
