Player battles become a little too hot as one Elden Ring player dominates in the game's PVP by becoming a living furnace. Elden Ring is a game that has no trouble punishing its players, whether it be through surprise enemies attacking out from a corner or putting in a boss so hard it can take some high-level Elden Ring players hundreds of deaths to take them down. In PVP, there is so much customizability in the game already that a little clever thinking can make punishing players a satisfying and hilarious experience, just like this one player did by turning themselves into a furnace.

As with most of FromSoftware titles, shield builds are a viable alternative to the more weapon-based builds, due to the fact that it likes to include special shields that can enable unique forms of gameplay, like the double door shields seen in Dark Souls 3. In Elden Ring, the developer only increased the number of special shields found in the game, from ones like the Jellyfish Shield that can give the player more damage in combat, to others like the Coiled Shield which has a snake that shoots out and bites the enemy. One rather special shield is one that can shoot flames called the Visage Shield, built in the same image as the notorious Flame Chariots.

One player used this shield for a clever strategy in Elden Ring's PVP. Posting to r/Eldenring, user Lord Texugo uploaded a video showcasing this strategy in action. The video is a six-minute montage of the multiple occasions where the player takes on invaders, utilizing a strategy where they lure them into a secluded area with only one exit, block the exit, and begin to spew flames onto the enemy again and again with the Visage Shield until they die in screaming agony. Clever use of utilizing the environment against the opponent, like one Elden Ring player who used a Caelid enemy against their opponent.

Utilizing one's environment is an important part of not just Elden Ring's PVP but the rules of war itself. Many in the comments found this strategy clever in that same way, and not just funny to watch but satisfying as well since some of the builds in the video are ones that players have found less than favorable to go up against, like the dual-spear builds.

It's moments like these that make the game's PVP shine, and with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion announced to be coming for Elden Ring, there are bound to be new clever ways to take on players in PVP just like the strategy seen here. The boundless creativity of Elden Ring's players is what makes the PVP such a fun way to experience the game, as they tend to think outside the box and find new ways to take down their opponents.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
