A video posted by one seriously overpowered Elden Ring fan shows the player taking down the powerful end-game boss Malenia in only 2 hits. Elden Ring’s Goddess of Rot has gained a reputation for being one of the most challenging bosses in From Software’s latest action RPG, with one player recently posting a video of them being killed by Malenia 225 times before finally managing to take her down.

Malenia is an optional end-game boss in From Software’s smash hit game Elden Ring, and is regarded by many players as one of the hardest bosses in any From Software title. While previous From Software titles such as the iconic Dark Souls games gave players a large degree of freedom in regard to how they proceeded through the game world, Elden Ring marked the studio’s first truly open-world title in the affectionately dubbed Soulsborne genre. Even coming from a studio renowned for devising some of the most punishing boss fights in gaming, Malenia’s ability to wipe out multiple players with a single hit puts her in a class all her own.

In a post on r/Eldenring, user RS_Lionheart shared an impressive video of them defeating Malenia in a matter of seconds, managing to destroy each of her forms with a single hit. Comments responding to the post were filled with gamers impressed at the speedy takedown of the fearsome boss, with many Elden Ring fans posting lines of Malenia’s menacing dialog interrupted by a comic “BONK!” Other responses noted that the fight very nearly had a different outcome, pointing out that the player died just moments after defeating Malenia’s second form.

For players looking to recreate this impressive feat of gaming prowess, RS_Lionheart was helpful enough to share a list of the staggering number of buffs and talismans they used to make quick work of Malenia, including the Howl of Shabriri and the Axe Talisman. While this speedy takedown is undoubtedly impressive, it’s not the only strategy players have found to defeat the challenging boss. From no-buff runs to defeating Malenia using a dance pad, players have come up with all sorts of creative ways to tackle the challenge.

Despite the punishing difficulty of her encounter, or perhaps because of it, Malenia has quickly earned a place in the hearts of many gamers. Although she may be a recent entry to the pantheon of challenging From Software enemies, Elden Rings fans have already paid tribute to the brutal boss with everything from fan art to Malenia Halloween costumes. With Elden Ring DLC anticipated in the near future, many gamers are surely wondering whether enemies even more challenging than Malenia await them.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
