The Blade of Miquella, the famous boss Malenia, has been defeated in 15 seconds by one skilled Elden Ring player. As the FromSoftware game continues to be played, more and more of its players are trying to challenge themselves in a game that already tries to challenge them constantly. Whether it's trying to beat the entirety of Elden Ring using one's mind or something a little simpler like going up against certain bosses at rune level 1, there's no end to what players can do. A subset of this is speedrunning, where players try to beat bosses as quick as possible.

Malenia is one of Elden Ring's hardest bosses and famous for giving many players a difficult time. But because of this, she is also a challenge seen by those many as something to overcome, not just in a normal battle, but one that puts the player at a disadvantage, like trying to beat Malenia at level 1 without dodging. With her fast and lengthy attacks coupled with a second phase that utilizes Scarlet Rot, Malenia isn't a boss to be underestimated, and especially not one that players should ordinarily try to beat quickly, lest they end up on her blade.

However, this one Elden Ring player managed to defeat her rather quickly. Posting to Reddit's Elden Ring community, user RS_Lionheart uploaded a clip of their rather short fight with Malenia in NG+7. The clip starts with the player applying several buffs to their character as they stand outside the arena. Once they enter, they use jump attacks with dual swords to bring Malenia swiftly to her second phase, where they throw a frost pot to bring Malenia down before spamming the same jump attack, soon after defeating her with a time of 15 seconds.

In the comments, many commend the player for how quick they were able to defeat the Blade of Miquella, some noting that the time it took to apply all the buffs was longer than the fight itself. In many cases, these buffs do assist with the fight, but there are even cases where Elden Ring players with numerous buffs die instantly, so it is not always the be-all-end-all to fights in the game. It is easy to say that the many buffs applied are what won them the quick victory, but there's also the skill in knowing when to dodge and when to attack.

Elden Ring's combat is wide and far-reaching, so much so that players can find ways to decimate bosses like Malenia with just a club. While this in of itself shows that there are a multitude of ways to progress through Elden Ring, it's never going to be as easy as it looks, and that even players like this one had to practice getting where they are now.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
