There are several challenging bosses in Elden Ring, both in its legacy dungeons and the open world. Players will encounter many tough mini-bosses simply roaming around the map, but most of them can be ignored as users are not expected to fight them to finish the main story. These Elden Ring bosses can be challenged at any point, and they all have a set location on the map.

The Night's Cavalry are a group of optional bosses in Elden Ring who only appear at night and fight on horseback. Players can challenge them at various locations across the Lands Between and defeating them often grants a unique skill. Elden Ring fans have experienced many absurd interactions with the game’s AI and mechanics since its release, and one user added a new clip to this list featuring a bizarre ending to their fight against a Night’s Cavalry mini-boss.

A Reddit user named rbmbox has shared a clip of their encounter with the boss. It shows rbmbox fighting on horseback, and they seem to be winning the battle. After hitting him several times with their sword, they deplete around half of his HP, causing him to fall from the horse. However, the Night’s Cavalry boss dies upon landing on the ground despite having half of his health left. The fall does over 900 damage and gives the victory to a puzzled rbmbox, who makes this Reddit post hoping to find an explanation.

Many users joke about how the boss died after falling on his back, with one referencing a famous scene from Persona 5. However, some think that it’s a bug in Elden Ring. As seen in the video, rbmbox deals fire damage with every swing of the sword, and many believe it to be the reason behind this incident. It looks like mounted enemies, such as Kaiden Sellswords, Night's Cavalry, and Nox Swordstress, will die instantly if their mount is killed with fire.

MochichiMike thinks that a glitch instantly kills Elden Ring bosses if players can proc a status effect when they enter another phase of the fight. A user named Dan_Onymous mentions that they killed most of the Night's Cavalry bosses using the same method, and reportedly, this bug has been present in FromSoftware’s engine since Dark Souls 1. Some fans also recommend taking advantage of this glitch as FromSoftware releases regular updates for Elden Ring, with patch 1.05 being the latest version.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
