A new Elden Ring mod looks to overhaul over 4,500 textures in a new HD texture pack. On its own, Elden Ring is seen by many gamers as a tremendous experience. Taking the usual FromSoftware format of difficult combat, a variety of build choices for players, and giving it a unique twist with the vast open world of the Lands Between, Elden Ring has received immense praise from critics and fans alike.

While Elden Ring stands on its own as a great game for a lot of fans, some have sought to enhance the experience through mods. Initially, a lot of Elden Ring mods added simple things to the game, such as characters from different IPs and settings. Back in July, someone added Halo's Master Chief to Elden Ring, for example, and plenty of other characters have since become playable through modding. Now that it has been over six months since Elden Ring first released, some mods are becoming a bit more ambitious in what they want to achieve.

One modder, known as Bardo over on the Nexus, is looking to completely overhaul the textures in Elden Ring. Bardo's mod gives HD reskins to over 4,500 textures, with their mod page showing what plenty of surfaces look like after their changes. Currently, players can download Bardo's Elden Ring Texture Improvement Project from the Nexus, but those wanting to save space on their hard drives should be warned, as this ambitious Elden Ring mod takes up a fair amount of space.

The complete texture overhaul is around 25GB, which isn't quite as large as some AAA titles releasing today, but that's still a lot of space for a mod. The Elden Ring Texture Improvement Project is almost half the file size of Elden Ring, so anyone wanting to get HD textures best be prepared to lose some space on their PC. However, if Bardo continues to work on this mod, improving the textures for the environments of the Lands Between, it could make an already impressive game that much more good-looking.

As mentioned, there are plenty of other Elden Ring mods players can get their hands on if they want to change up their experience a bit. For those having a tough time getting their Tarnished to the throne of the Elden Lord, there are mods to make Elden Ring an easier experience. But for those who want an extra challenge, there are also mods that can make the game just that extra bit harder.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
