Elden Ring: Millicent Questline
Talk to Gowry at Gowry's Shack (Caelid)
To initiate Millicent's quest, players should speak with Gowry at his shack. This structure is just east of Aeonia Swamp in Caelid, and fans should agree to hear Gowry's request. That request is to assist Millicent by locating an Unalloyed Gold Needle in Elden Ring.
Get Unalloyed Gold Needle and Return to Gowry (Caelid)
The Unalloyed Gold Needle that Gowry is looking for is rewarded upon dispatching Commander O'Neil. This enemy is in a portion of the Aeonia Swamp that is encircled by trees, and there is an Elden Ring Site of Grace just northwest of it. After obtaining the needle, players should return to Gowry's Shack and speak with the NPC to advance the questline.
Talk to Millicent at Church of the Plague (Caelid)
Fans must now take the Unalloyed Gold Need to Millicent, who is located at the Church of the Plague just northeast of Gowry's Shack. To reach this location, players can unlock the barriers at Sellia, Town of Sorcery in Elden Ring and access the Sellia Backstreets Site of Grace. Fans can ride to the church from this position, and they will find Millicent slumped against an interior wall.
Return to Gowry's Shack (Caelid)
Players should now return to Gowry's Shack and speak with Millicent inside. At the conclusion of that conversation, Elden Ring fans should reload the area by using fast travel. This action will cause Gowry to appear in his shack, and players should speak with him once again.
Talk to Millicent at Erdtree-Gazing Hill (Altus Plateau)
The next step in Millicent's questline is to speak with her just north of the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace in Altus Plateau. The typical way to reach this region is to use the Grand Lift of Dectus in Elden Ring, and the relevant Site of Grace is just north of that colossal construction.
Get Valkyrie's Prosthesis at the Shaded Castle (Altus Plateau)
Players must now turn their attention to the Shaded Castle, a location at the northwest corner of the Altus Plateau. Indeed, there is a chest inside this Elden Ring castle that holds the Valkyrie's Prosthesis, which is needed to advance Millicent's questline. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough of how to reach that chest:
- Enter the Shaded Castle from the northwest corner.
- Descend the stairs on the left, turn right, and look for a break in the wall on the left side.
- Jump through that break to reach a rooftop.
- Head southeast across the roof, jump into the poison below, and climb a ladder that is slightly further to the southeast. This ladder is marked by a burning torch.
- At the top of the ladder, walk forward to descend a set of stairs, turn left, and follow the path to reach a tower with the chest.
Return to Millicent at Erdtree-Gazing Hill (Altus Plateau)
The Valkyrie's Prostehsis should now be taken to Millicent back at her position by the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace.
Kill Godskin Apostle and Talk to Millicent at Windmill Village (Altus Plateau)
The Godskin Apostle is a boss in Elden Ring that players will encounter at the top of the Windmill Village, which is just east of the Shaded Castle. Fans should dispatch this foe, fast travel to reload the area, and talk to Millicent near the Windmill Heights Site of Grace.
Talk to Millicent at Ancient Snow Valley Ruins (Mountaintops of the Giants)
Players must now make their way to the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace in the Mountaintops of the Giants region. Millicent will be standing right next to this Site of Grace, and a conversation with her will progress the quest.
Talk to Millicent at Prayer Room (Miquella's Haligtree)
At this point, fans must have a conversation with Millicent at the Prayer Room Site of Grace in Miquella's Haligtree. Here is a brief summary of how to reach that area, though players may want to seek out a more elaborate guide on the subject:
- Get the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) at Elden Ring's Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia.
- Get the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) at Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
- Use the completed medallion to activate the Grand Lift of Rold in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
- Head north to Ordina, Liturgical Town and solve its puzzle to access a portal that leads to Miquella's Haligtree.
Kill the Ulcerated Tree Spirit (Miquella's Haligtree)
There is a non-boss variant of Elden Ring's Ulcerated Tree Spirit deep in Miquella's Haligtree, and players must now defeat it. To get to this enemy, players should work their way through the area until they reach the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace and then follow these steps:
- Head south out of the room with the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace, turn right, and climb onto the tree root ahead
- Follow the root to solid ground and then cross through the pool of rot, using Preserving Boluses as needed
- On the other side of the rot, turn right and use the tree roots to get around the cliff that blocks the path.
- Turn around to get on top of the cliff and then use the tree root to cross to another pool of rot. The Ulcerated Tree Spirit will emerge from this pool.
Challenge Millicent or Assist Millicent (Miquella's Haligtree)
Two summon signs will now appear on the land that encircles the rot pool where the Ulcerated Tree Spirit fight just occurred. One of these signs will allow players to challenge Millicent, while the other will allow them to assist her, and here are details on how those two options play out:
- Fans that opt to challenge Millicent will find themselves fighting her in the pool of rot. Killing the character in this battle will yield Millicent's Prothesis, an Elden Ring talisman that boosts dexterity and raises attack power with successive attacks, and it marks the end of the questline.
- Players that instead choose to assist Millicent will work with her to fend off four attackers. Upon obtaining victory, fans will receive the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia talisman, which greatly raises attack power with successive attacks, and they will be able to move onto the next step.
Talk to Millicent Near Summon Signs in Miquella's Haligtree (Only Assist Millicent)
If Millicent was assisted, she will now be on the ground just past where the two summon signs appeared previously. Notably, fans should be extremely careful when moving to this position, as falling on Millicent here will instantly kill her and end this Elden Ring questline. With that said, players should exhaust the character's dialogue when they find her, use fast travel to reload the area, and then return to Millicent's position to obtain the Unalloyed Gold Needle once again.
Kill Malenia Goddess of Rot and Return Unalloyed Gold Needle in Miquella's Haligtree (Only Assist Millicent)
With the Unalloyed Gold Needle in hand, fans should dispatch Malenia, Goddess of Rot at the center of Miquella's Haligtree and interact with the flower to return the item. Players that perform this action will receive Miquella's Needle, which can be used to affect Elden Ring's ending.
Return to Gowry at Gowry's Shack in Caelid (Both)
Regardless of whether a player challenged or assisted Millicent, they should now head back to Gowry's Shack to obtain the Flock's Canvas Talisman and Gowry's Bell Bearing in Elden Ring. To note, these items will be on the ground in the shack for fans that challenged Millicent, while those that assisted her will need to kill Gowry to receive them.
