Like FromSoftware's previous efforts, Elden Ring is a notoriously difficult game that will push players' skills to their limit. However, there are ways Elden Ring players can make the tougher encounters a bit easier on themselves, like by leveling up. Elden Ring players collect runes from killing enemies that can in turn be spent to improve their stats, which should go a long way in helping them conquer the game's tougher fights.

Elden Ring has eight stats that players can level up during their time with the game: Vigor, Mind, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane. The Elden Ring stats have soft caps where players get less return on their investment, so a good strategy is to focus on leveling up three stats to their soft cap, then start putting points elsewhere. However, the more one levels up in Elden Ring, the more difficult it becomes to do so, as each level requires more runes.

Elden Ring players can level up all their stats to 99 to hit max level, but doing so is going to take a considerable time investment. Even when abusing Elden Ring rune farming spots, it's highly unlikely that most players will hit the max level

If Elden Ring players are truly dedicated enough to max out their stats to 99, they will hit level 713. And according to the Elden Ring wiki, doing this is going to cost a staggering 1,692,558,415 runes in total. Needless to say, most Elden Ring players aren't going to hit the level cap, but they should still be able to do and see everything in the game.

Elden Ring is a tough game, but one does need to max out all their stats and hit the level cap to conquer it. In fact, it's very within the realm of possibility to unlock all the Elden Ring achievements without getting anywhere close to level 713. However, those that can't get enough of Elden Ring and want to play the game endlessly may as well shoot for having a maxed-out character as a goal.

Eventually, it's possible FromSoftware will release an Elden Ring DLC expansion that will give players even more challenges to overcome, but even then it's highly unlikely that it will require players to hit the level cap or get anywhere near it to be successful. For now, fans can enjoy exploring the Lands Between provided in the base game and leveling up their stats as they like.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
