Elden Ring is a game filled with extremely challenging bosses, but one of the most notoriously difficult is Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Malenia is one of the most challenging bosses in the game because she has attacks that are able to completely wipe out health bars, and beyond that, she heals herself every time she lands a blow on the player. Elden Ring players have adopted many strategies when it comes to taking out Malenia, but a new trick has been discovered that makes the boss fight much easier.

Reddit user toxicBird7 has discovered a way to interrupt one of Malenia's most powerful attacks, which should give Elden Ring players a much greater chance at surviving the encounter. Malenia has a Waterfowl Dance attack where she relentlessly slices the player, healing herself and dealing extraordinary damage in the process. It's not uncommon for this move to be the one that kills Elden Ring players, and while most have taken to trying to outrun it, toxicBird7's method is a lot safer.

Basically, it's been discovered that Elden Ring players can interrupt Malenia's Waterfowl Dance attack by hitting her with a Freezing Pot. Freezing Pot items can be crafted after Elden Ring players have found the Glintstone Craftman's Cookbook (6), which is located at Caria Manor in Liurnia. Then to actually craft the Freezing Pots, Elden Ring players need to have ritual pots handy as well as the Rimed Crystal Bud crafting item.

Elden Ring players can find the Rimed Crystal Bud in the Mountaintop of Giants, Caria Manor, and elsewhere. Reddit user toxicBird7's video shows a specific spot Elden Ring players can visit in the Mountaintop of Giants to get Rimed Crystal Bud. Starting at the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace, head southwest and loot around the base of the giant white trees. Once players have the required ingredients, they are free to make Freezing Crystal Pots to use against Malenia.

Elden Ring players may want to do the Malenia boss fight a couple of times so they can get her other attack patterns down and figure out exactly when she's going to use her Waterfowl Dance attack. Whenever Malenia is about to use this move, she jumps into the air and winds her sword back, so players always have a decent idea of when it's coming. As long as they act fast enough and hit her with a Freezing Pot, she should get staggered, canceling the attack in the process.

This should make the Elden Ring Malenia boss fight much easier, but it will still be one of the hardest battles in the game, so players should keep that in mind. Those who are still having trouble may want to consider farming Elden Ring runes to boost their stats or getting help from a co-op partner.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
