A month and a half after its initial release, Elden Ring continues to hold a seat near the top of the Steam charts in terms of active players. Between its challenging boss fights, an open world filled to the brim with content, and plenty of secrets for players to discover, Elden Ring has plenty of features to satisfy the most hardcore FromSoftware veteran as well as the most insatiable video game explorer.

On top of this massive amount of content is the option to play it alone or with friends. Though fighting enemies can be just as hard for multiple players, especially when it comes to Elden Ring's Cleanrot Knight's impaling attacks, cooperative play adds new levels of fun and strategy when compared to its lone-wolf counterpart.

Along with cooperative multiplayer is the complete opposite: invading and dueling other players in the game's PvP option. While dueling is a fairer option that only allows for one-on-one duels between players, attempting to invade can be a frustrating or rewarding test of skill depending on who a player invades. Sometimes invaders are met with friendship, like a blue hunter helping an Elden Ring invader find an AFK farmer; other times, invaders are met with a squadron of high-level players using powerful builds. Recently, an event more akin to the former appeared online when an invader found themselves face-to-face with Shrek and Fiona.

Reddit user SuperStick15 captured the moment they invaded two players that had a striking resemblance to Shrek and Fiona. Though the pair were not quite as bulky as their on-screen counterparts, Shrek did proceed to let out a fierce roar towards SuperStick15, letting it be known he would go down fighting. In a much calmer moment, Fiona uses the "by my sword" gesture in what looks to be an attempt at peace; that, or, like one player using Elden Ring's wave gesture poorly, Fiona was issuing a challenge to SuperStick15.

Though the video was as amazing as the characters within it, it does fall short of the mark in a couple of ways. First off, for two players posing as the ogre couple, it seems a shame they would not be defending one of the game's swampier areas. For example, the area Caelid has a literal swamp in it, and Liurnia of the Lakes has a huge, misty pond spanning the middle of its area; either of these would have been great locations. Furthermore, it would have been hilarious to see if SuperStick15 managed to triumph or was pounded into the ground by the two ogres.

Considering Shrek and Fiona had about as much gear on as the level 1 player who beat Elden Ring's Malenia without taking damage, it should have been an easy win for SuperStick15. However, considering the level of teamwork it would have taken to create the characters in the first place, it's very possible SuperStick15 had their work cut out for them.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
