Elden Ring aims to do one thing, pit players against seemingly impossible and blatantly unfair odds. From beginning to end, this game pushes the limits of players and punishes them for every mistake, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Such a ruthless demeanor towards players garners Elden Ring much popularity and infamy. This attitude also inspired the creation of things like trapped chests, seemingly harmless treasure boxes bearing a nasty surprise for unsuspecting players.

Players can discover one of these rigged compartments within the first area of Elden Ring, and it is especially punishing. This trapped chest resides in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins of Limgrave, and those who open it are transported far away deep within the Sellia Crystal Tunnel of Caelid. This location is a hellscape that players can only hope to escape. Fortunately, for those who met this unfortunate fate, freedom from this horrific area is possible with some caution and luck. Here is how to escape from the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Elden Ring.

Updated January 2nd, 2023 by Russ Boswell: Escaping from Selia Crystal Tunnel in Elden Ring can be a bit scary for players who don't know where to go or how they got there. It's possible for players to end up in the location by opening a seemingly innocent chest and then suddenly being teleported to the zone. Thankfully, its quite simple to escape Selia Crystal Tunnel in Elden Ring if players know where to look and run. To better help, the following guide now contains a companion video.

How To Escape From The Sellia Crystal Tunnel

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape First Step

Upon being transported to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, players will find themselves in a ramshackle miners' cabin. They should be quick to crouch to avoid detection from nearby enemies, as they pose a significant threat. Before advancing further, players should enhance their stealth capabilities with Soft Cotton or magic, if possible. Doing so will further their chances of escaping the Sellia Crystal Tunnel.

After taking appropriate preparations, players can leave the miners' cabin, but they must heed caution. Patrolling just outside is a Digger, and above lies a Prawn Miner. Both enemies are exceedingly dangerous, especially if they fight together. So, players should wait for the Digger to pass then leave the miners' cabin.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Second Step

Upon exiting the miners' cabin, players must take a right and begin heading down the slope. There will be numerous Diggers ahead, but they will ignore players if left alone. Attacking a Digger or taking their material will make them hostile, compromising the position of players. By sneaking past and leaving the Diggers to their devices, players can easily make it to the bottom of the slope.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Third Step

At the bottom, players will see another miners' cabin to their right with a Prawn Miner on top. Players must ignore this decrepit shack and carefully make their way to the left, where a tunnel resides. By hugging the wall, players can better avoid the Prawn Miner's detection, avoiding a needless and potentially disastrous fight. When players reach the tunnel, they need only to make their way through it.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Fourth Step

Sneak down the tunnel with the utmost caution, as the Prawn Miner may still detect players. Eventually, players will make it to the other side of the tunnel, nearing closer to the exit of the Sellia Crystal Tunnel.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Fifth Step

At the tunnel's end, there will be a ladder that players can take to the entry-level of the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. From here on out, there will be no enemies within the vicinity of players, meaning that they no longer need to sneak.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Sixth Step

At the bottom of the ladder, players will find a Site of Grace and the mouth of the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in view. As a result of the trapped chest, players receive an effect that prevents them from fast traveling until they rest. So, players must visit this Site of Grace before exiting the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. Otherwise, they will have no choice but to remain in Caelid, a desolate and unforgiving wasteland.

Elden Ring Sellia Crystal Tunnel Escape Final Step

Now that players have visited a Shrine of Grace and left the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, they can fast travel to wherever they were before their journey was interrupted. Should they choose, players may return to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel and the region of Caelid to explore it further. With that, players know how to escape the Sellia Crystal Tunnel.
