Elden Ring is a game that does not handhold. Players need to figure out a lot for themselves. This even goes for Elden Ring's key items like the Weathered Dagger, which is an important item for players that want the Duskborn Ending. On the bright side, getting the dagger is not hard, it is just easily missed for players that do not often interact with Fia, the Deathbed Companion, as it is a part of her questline.
Getting the dagger can take some time, but it is one of the easier parts of Fia's questline. Even for fans that do not want the Duskborn ending, getting the dagger can be useful in seeing certain parts of the game and its lore that would otherwise not occur. Most of what needs to be done is at Roundtable Hold.
Getting The Dagger
The first time the Roundtable Hold is visited, the player must visit Fia, whose room is next to where Hewg the Blacksmith works. Her hug must be accepted, and the player will get the Baldachin's Blessing. Keeping the blessing is not required to get the dagger (it is recommended to actually get rid of it, as it lowers the player character's HP). This first hug is the beginning of Fia's questline to the Duskborn ending.
The Tarnished do not need to speak to Fia again until they arrive at the Altus Plateau. There are three ways to reach the area:
- Through the Grand Lift of Dectus.
- Through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice (Requires defeating the Magma Wyrm past the Ravine-veiled Village and Miner's Caves).
- There is a secret way by allowing oneself to be swallowed by the Iron Virgin at the bottom of Raya Lucaria's waterwheel. It will teleport the Tarnished to Volcano Manor.
Once the Altus Plateau has been found, the player must go back to the Roundtable Hold and let her hug them again for another blessing. Accept the "Talk in secret" option that will appear. Fia will ask for a favor and bestow the dagger to the Tarnished.
What To Do With The Dagger
Fia will say that she wants the dagger returned to its rightful owner. The biggest hint as to its rightful owner is in the description of the dagger. It's described to be gold and silver intertwined, which should remind the player of D's armor. Speak to D and give him the dagger.
After giving him the dagger, a new room will open upon the next visit to Roundtable Hold. In the new room, the next part of Fia's quest will unfold. The dagger will no longer be important.
