The Spirit Ashes mechanic in Elden Ring is one of the most entertaining parts of From Software's latest adventure. Players will find a wide array of Spirit Ashes throughout their journey, allowing them to expend FP to summon a wide array of useful and powerful spirits that can help them turn the tide of battle against strong enemies and bosses. There are tons of Spirit Ashes to choose from and players are even able to level them up to increase their effectiveness.

Some Spirit Ashes call forth packs of fast-moving allies, while others summon ranged assistance. There are even some Spirit Ashes that are capable of producing status effects like Poison. There's even a Spirit Ash in Elden Ring that's even capable of "cloning the player." The Mimic Tear Ashes will let players create a carbon copy A.I. that retains their stats, armor, and weapons. Here's a look at where players can find this powerful item.

Updated August 3rd, 2023: The Mimic Tear Ashes provide one of the most useful summonable creatures in all of Elden Ring. The item will allow players to summon a copy of themselves, which can be incredibly helpful in a boss fight or for drawing aggro from certain enemies. Unfortunately, finding the Mimic Tear Ashes is a bit difficult for those who don't know where to look. To better help players in How to Find the Mimic Tear Ashes as well as the location of the Mimic Tear Ashes in Elden Ring, the following guide has been updated with a video.

Getting To Nokron And The Ancestral Woods Site Of Grace

Elden Ring Mimic Tear Map

To snag the Mimic Tear Ashes, players will have to progress pretty far into the game and defeat a rather difficult boss. That's because the area that holds the Mimic Tear Ashes, The Eternal City of Nokron, is inaccessible until players defeat Starscourge Radahn. Toppling the Demi-God is no easy feat and many players have lambasted how frustratingly difficult the required boss really is. Once he's finally defeated, a falling star will land near the Mistwoods and open a path to the beautiful area perched high above the Siofra River Well.

Once players gain access to Nokron, they'll want to proceed until they uncover the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace. Players will have to go through one boss to reach the area, which should give them a glimpse of what the Mimic Tear Ashes are capable of. The boss in question is the Mimic Tear itself, which will mimic whatever players currently have equipped the moment they pass through the Mist Gate. Because of this, one viable strategy to make the boss easier to fight is to remove armor and weapons before passing through the gate and then re-equip them during the boss fight. This will cause the Mimic Tear to be practically defenseless.

After the boss is defeated, players can continue on up the large stone staircase and across a large bridge, taking the first left-hand path that opens up and hugging the left wall all the way to find the correct Site of Grace.

Where To Find Mimic Tear Ashes In Elden Ring

Once players have access to the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace, getting to the Mimic Tear Ashes is a lot easier, although it does require a bit of platforming prowess. From the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace, players can look down over the cliff edge and spot a stone platform to jump to. From there, they can run straight ahead and across a narrow wall section before making a small jump to another jutting ledge. Turning quickly to the right and following this ledge all the way around will put them in an area where they can make a second jump to a small platform and continue around the corner to an area that opens up near a large staircase.

Across from this staircase, players will see the top of a round roof that they can hop to and then jump down onto a large open area. There are a couple of Ooze enemies here that can possibly transform into Silver Tears (invader-like enemies) so it's best to proceed with caution. After moving through the large area and around the corner, players can zip down a "hallway" and into an area with a long, skinny, crumbling wall. Moving across this wall and jumping into the nearby windows will put players into a balcony area overlooking a church.

Instead of jumping down, players can head to the left and spot a large open archway that leads to a hallway and a Mist Barrier protected by a Stone Imp Statue. Using one Stonesword Key will unlock this misty barrier and let players access the chamber within. The enemy inside is unaware and can be easily back-stabbed. Once players have dispatched the enemy they can open the nearby chest to snag the Mimic Tear Ashes.

What Do The Mimic Tear Ashes Do?

Elden Ring Mimic Tear Ashes

Mimic Tear Ashes work much like the Mimic Tear boss that players face early on in Nokron. By equipping them (into a Quick Equip Slot) and using them, players can summon a spirit manifestation of themselves that will work like an A.I. companion, which can be exceptionally useful in boss fights. The summoned spirit will have the same build, armor, and weapons as the player but will operate entirely on its own, meaning players can summon it to do additional damage or serve its purpose as a tanky (or dodging) distraction.

The best part about the Mimic Tear Ash is that it uses health to summon, rather than FP. Some spirit ashes use quite a bit of FP when players summon them, making it difficult for those that primarily ignore the Mind stat. FP is directly correlated to Mind and players with a low Mind stat will have a lower allotment of FP to use for skills and spells. Thanks to the Mimic Tear Ash using health as its summoning catalyst, it's easy for low-Mind stat players to simply summon it and then heal themselves up quickly with a healing spell or flask.

This non-reliance on FP, paired with the fact that Mimic Tear Ashes completely mimics the players spells, armor, weapons, and skills, makes it a force to be reckoned with and one of the best spirits in the game. It's even capable of using consumables from the Quick Item bar, including weapons, buffing, and healing items.
