There are a lot of ways to deal damage to enemies in Elden Ring. Players have many choices when it comes to weapons, with From Software adding a wide array of blades, staves, and blunt options to appeal to as many playstyles as possible. Add in special effects and weapon elements, and it's easy to see why players become easily overwhelmed by all the possible builds at their fingertips. Tarnished are capable of striking down enemies with blunt force, applying massive bleeds to inflict large amounts of damage, or even hitting them with stacks of Frost to weaken their armor and sap their stamina.

Those that want to go the latter route have many options for creating Frost build-up, but one of the best comes from Ghostflame weapons. The Death's Poker is a particularly potent Frost greatsword that is capable of stacking Frost quickly and comes with the added benefit of creating its own Ghostflame. Those that dabble in DEX and want a greatsword with some solid scaling will definitely want to consider this weapon. Here's how to find Death's Poker in Elden Ring.

Where To Find Death's Poker In Elden Ring

Elden Ring Death's Poker Location

Finding the Death's Poker itself is pretty straightforward. It's in an easily accessible area, but forces players to traverse through Caelid, a zone rife with painful enemies and annoying status effects. Thankfully, players can stick to the roads for the most part to reach the area that contains the greatsword. The difficult part comes from slaying the mini-boss that's guarding it. Those that want to get their hands on this weapon will have to do battle with a Death Rite Bird, one of Elden Ring's most imposing foes.

Although they're considered mini-bosses, the Death Rite Birds are capable of quickly killing a player, thanks to their erratic movements, wide-sweeping attacks, and incredibly damaging Ghostflame abilities. To do battle with the foe guarding the Death's Poker, players need to head to Caelid and to an area just South of the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank Site of Grace. It's easy to gain access to this area if players stay on the "main road" that leads towards Caelid from the Northeastern end of Limgrave. Once players enter Caelid they can travel down and around the bend on the main roadway.

Once players reach the Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank Site of Grace, they should make sure to pass time (at the Site of Grace) until it's nightfall. The Death Rite Bird will only spawn in the aforementioned area at night, so players need to return to the Site of Grace and pass time if they don't see it.

Once the beast is slain, it will drop the Death's Poker. Those that are struggling to down the imposing beast may want to consider using Strength-based or Holy-based weapons, as it's particularly susceptible to both of those types. It has a heavy resistance to Scarlet Rot, and those hoping to dish out damage with their status effects are out of luck, as the Death Rite Bird is immune to Hemorrhage, Poison, and Frostbite. Thankfully, this is one of the weaker versions of the Death Rite Birds (which are found throughout the Lands Between) but it's still a strong foe and difficult to take down for low-level (and even mid-level) players.

What Does The Death's Poker Do?

Elden Ring Death's Poker Stats

The Death's Poker is a greatsword that requires 17 DEX, 15 STR, and 11 INT to wield properly. Although it will scale so-so (C) with Strength, its best scaling is Dexterity, with an eventual B rating when upgraded to Level +10. It maintains a steady Frost buildup of 65 from Level 1 and can dish out some serious damage for those that are aware of the greatsword's attack patterns. It's also capable of dishing-out Ghostflame damage thanks to its unique ability, Ghostflame Ignition. Using this will cause the player to point the sword towards outward, in which a small AOE Ghostflame explosion will proc from the sword's tip.
