Elden Ring is a massive game with complex mechanics that it doesn't always fully explain to the player. Like many other FromSoftware games, Elden Ring takes a more hands-off approach, letting players figure out the finer details of how everything works for themselves. This means that there are many players who legitimately have no idea how certain things work in the game, but one player has provided a helpful list to keep them in the know.

Reddit user Zoiwillxxx recently posted a list of lesser-known game mechanics in Elden Ring. The list includes some helpful tips about how Elden Ring weapon scaling works, as well as useful tricks like using crystal darts on construct enemies to put them in a berserk state. Zoiwillxxx's tips also touch on Elden Ring poise and how the game changes it in hidden ways. As explained by Zoiwillxxx, weapons have hidden poise multipliers while chest armor actually boosts poise regeneration.

Other Elden Ring players chimed in with their own contributions to the list, with user Maephia making a suggestion that has earned over 2,000 upvotes at the time of this writing. As explained by Maephia, Elden Ring's weather and environment have unique interactions with enemy attacks. For example, if it's raining, Elden Ring players will be more resistant to fire attacks. Conversely, rain and water boost the effectiveness of lightning-based attacks.

Reddit user sortofunique added a tip for Elden Ring players that are trying to decide which weapon to equip. If players compare two weapons of the same scaling, the color will change to indicate which weapon is better. User Puzzlehead_Coyote pointed out that players can potentially survive being grabbed by enemies if they button mash as opposed to just allowing the enemy's attack to play out, which judging by the responses, is something that a lot of fans had no clue about.

Elden Ring is full of secrets like the ones mentioned here, though some of them are especially well-hidden. For example, Elden Ring has a secret wall in Volcano Manor that can only be opened after hitting it about 50 times. This discovery has led to Elden Ring players scouring the open world of the Lands Between, smacking every wall in sight in search of more secret passageways.

Some Elden Ring players have gone through the game multiple times at this point, and even they may not have seen everything there is to see. With such a massive open world to explore, it will be interesting to see if fans discover even more Elden Ring secrets in the days and weeks ahead.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
