Elden Ring has proven to be a massive success, breaking into the mainstream in a way that FromSoftware's previous games were unable to do. Elden Ring is the fastest-selling Bandai Namco game of all time, and it is currently the highest-rated new video game release of 2022. Now there's yet another metric with which to prove Elden Ring's dizzying popularity in the gaming world, as it has managed to beat a record set by Grand Theft Auto 5.

As reported by IGN, who was provided stats by YouTube Gaming, Elden Ring had 3.4 billion views on YouTube in its first two months after launch. This obliterates the record previously set by Grand Theft Auto 5, which supposedly earned 1.9 billion views in the same window. Considering the success Grand Theft Auto 5 enjoyed at launch and still enjoys to this day, that's a real testament to just how big of a deal Elden Ring really is.

IGN's report includes some other interesting tidbits about Elden Ring's presence on YouTube. According to YouTube Gaming's stats, the Elden Ring character classes with the most video uploads are Samurai, Hero, Wretch, Astrologer, and Warrior, in that order. Elden Ring's Samurai class is popular with many players because of its starting gear, so it's not all that surprising to see it have the most uploads on YouTube.

Elden Ring Malenia

The Elden Ring YouTube Gaming stats extend to the bosses that players encounter throughout the Lands Between. The Elden Ring boss with the most uploads is none other than Margit, the Fell Omen, which is the first major boss that players encounter in the game. Coming in second place is Malenia, Blade of Miquella, who is generally considered by Elden Ring players to be the hardest boss in the game.

Rounding out the top five are Godrick, another early-game boss, and Starscourge Radahn, an optional boss who players fight on a massive battlefield. And finally, fifth place goes to the Draconic Tree Sentinel boss.

It's clear from the YouTube metrics to the reviews to the game's sales that Elden Ring is a massive success, and it will be interesting to see how Bandai Namco capitalizes on it. An Elden Ring sequel seems like an obvious choice, but there are leaks to suggest that an Elden Ring DLC expansion is going to come first. Fans will just have to stay tuned to see what's coming next from FromSoftware.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
