As players explore the Liurnia region in Elden Ring, they may come across a construction known as the Grand Lift of Dectus. This extraordinary lift can help fans access the Altus Plateau, though it cannot be used straightaway. Indeed, players must activate Elden Ring's Grand Lift of Decuts before they can ride it, and this guide details exactly how that is done.

Elden Ring: How to Use Grand Lift of Dectus

In order to use the Grand Lift of Dectus, players must collect two halves of a Medallion. Those halves are dubbed Dectus Medallion (Left) and Dectus Medallion (Right), and they can be found inside chests that are atop two forts. Here are details on the precise locations of those forts with recommendations on the best ways to reach them:

The left half of the Dectus Medallion is at Fort Haight, which is in east Limgrave, just southeast of the Mistwood. To reach this location, players should simply summon Torrent in Elden Ring and follow the road that leads east out of the starting area. Upon arriving at Fort Haight, fans should enter from its side, take the stairs that are against the west interior wall to reach a tower, and climb the ladder that is inside to access the chest with the Dectus Medallion (Left).

Dectus Medallion (Right)

The right half of the Dectus Medallion is much more difficult to access, and it is inside Fort Faroth in the Caelid region. Due to the difficulty of this region, it is recommended that players at low levels do not attempt to ride from Limgrave to Fort Faroth. Instead, fans are advised to use one of the following methods to get close to the fort and minimize the amount of traveling that they must do within Caelid:

  • Visit Dragon-Burnt Ruins to the east of The First Steps Site of Grace in Limgrave. Interact with the chest that is underneath the Ruins to teleport to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Elden Ring. Escape the Tunnel by descending from the starting hut and ride east to Fort Faroth.
  • Obtain a Deathroot in Elden Ring and speak with D Hunter of the Dead in Roundtable Hold. Travel to the red mark that the character puts on the east Limgrave map to teleport to the Bestial Sanctum. Exit this location and ride south to Fort Faroth.

Regardless of how a player ultimately reaches Fort Faroth, they should enter from the west and then run north to reach a ladder. The Dectus Medallion (Right) is inside the chest at the top of that ladder, and Elden Ring players should now be ready to return to the Grand Lift of Dectus and activate it.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
