Crafting is a very crucial process in Elden Ring, as it helps players create necessary items that’ll help while exploring the vast world of the Lands Between. Therefore, Crafting Materials are equally important, and Gold Firefly is one of them.
It is said that Gold Firefly emits an alluring light in Elden Ring that almost seems magical, and some believe that it reveals Runes. This material is usually found in watery areas like ponds near Minor Erdtrees. It’s also considered an important asset in the game as it’s one of the materials used to craft Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, which increases the incoming Runes by 30%.

Players require Runes to purchase items or Spells, upgrade weapons/Spirit Ashes, and level up stats. Thankfully, Elden Ring provided a method for Tarnished to earn more Runes by simply consuming one particular item, the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. By using the Crafting Kit, it’s possible to combine multiple Crafting Materials and craft the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. One of the said materials is the Gold Firefly in Elden Ring which is only farmed in ponds.
Gold Firefly Farming Method In Elden Ring
There are two important factors that play a role in farming any Crafting Material in Elden Ring: the location of the material and knowing how to farm it.
How To Farm Gold Firefly In Elden Ring
If players travel to Mistwood pond and collect nine Gold Fireflies, then teleport to Weeping Peninsula pond and loot 11 Gold Fireflies without killing any enemies, 20 Gold Fireflies can be obtained in about two minutes.
This means that in 30 minutes, it’s possible to collect 300 Gold Fireflies if Tarnished keep going back and forth between the two ponds. And if that is too much, then 15 minutes is enough, as it rewards 150 Gold Fireflies, which will last for a while in Elden Ring since the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot only needs one Gold Firefly.
As for the other ingredients required to make Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, which are Rowa Fruit and Four-Toed Fowl Foot, players can farm them in the following locations:

Gold Firefly Farming Locations
Two locations stand out from the rest, and both of them are in Limgrave: Mistwood Outskirts and Weeping Peninsula. The former contains nine Gold Fireflies, whereas the latter has 11 Gold Fireflies, meaning players can collect 20 Gold Fireflies in a short amount of time. Additionally, the Altus Plateau contains one pond where nine Gold Fireflies can be farmed.
Mistwood Pond Location
To reach the Gold Fireflies in Mistwood, teleport to Mistwood Outskirts Site of Lost Grace and travel southeast to the pond ahead; there should be two Lesser Runebears nearby.
The first is asleep, and it’s possible to tiptoe around it to the pond, but the other one will attack Tarnished for sure. So it’s advised to fight these Elden Ring enemies before looting the materials.
Weeping Peninsula Pond Location
To get to the Gold Fireflies in Weeping Peninsula, travel to the Tombsward Site of Lost Grace and head southwest past the Walking Mausoleum to an open field, then turn southeast between the two ruins.
There’ll be weak soldiers waiting, so keep that in mind. Next, proceed east to the pond full of Octopus enemies, which is somewhat close to the Tower of Return in Elden Ring. It’s not necessary to fight before collecting the materials.
Altus Plateau Pond Location
First, teleport to the Road of Iniquity Side Path Site of Lost Grace, which is found underneath the bridge where the Goldmask NPC is first encountered. From the bonfire, summon Torrent and proceed south to find a Spirit Spring at the end of the cliff. Use the horse to jump down safely and head towards the pond ahead.
There are several enemies in the pond, and one of them is a Lesser Wormface that will cause Death Blight. Players can simply stay on Torrent and collect all available nine Gold Fireflies in Elden Ring while dodging the enemy’s attack. Once all Fireflies are collected, rest at the Site of Grace to do it all over again.
Keep in mind that Altus Plateau can be reached through various methods, be it going through a cave in Liurnia, completing the final step in Fia’s questline, or simply using the Dectus Medallion.
