An Elden Ring player met an unfortunate but hilarious end when a Godskin Noble decided to side-step out of its predicament. Elden Ring players have been making use of the environment to negate the lethality of this particular Godskin since launch, but that may not be as foolproof as it seems.

The Godskin are some of Elden Ring's most fascinating enemies, impossibly agile no matter their size, and accompanied by one of the best pieces from the title's OST. Even beyond esoteric lore found in the descriptions of their items, the Godskin, both Apostles and Nobles, are immensely compelling, proving to be formidable foes no matter where the Tarnished encounter them. However, the Godskin Noble has garnered a fair degree of notoriety, and one clash with this skin-wearing behemoth is halfway through the Volcano Manor Legacy Dungeon.

In a video uploaded to Reddit by u/Ampling, the player character is one of three in combat against the Godskin Noble. The enemy has seemingly just reached the second phase and is performing the visual cue for one of several new attacks added upon half of its health being depleted. This particular attack is the most infamous; the Noble jumps up, lands on its side, and begins rolling toward the player, an animation that can last for more than ten seconds.

The Temple of Eiglay has conveniently placed pillars, which players often position themselves behind, in order to stay out of danger from this rotation of death. However, once the Noble is perpetually rolling against the column, it stops, steps to the side, and within the blink of an eye continues barreling toward the player as if nothing had happened. In addition to this bad luck, the Noble in Elden Ring does not finish the animation after hitting the player, continuing to spin around until their death, and even refusing to conclude before the video ends.

Replies to the video had as much fun as possible, with one joking that the host had been hit by a smooth criminal, in reference to the famous Michael Jackson song. Another noted how incredible it would be to have this attack as an Ash of War, while some debated whether this was a new mechanic implemented by From Software and, while a few were convinced, others claimed to have seen it before. Given how awkward the animation looked, this seems to be nothing more than a rare and unintended interaction.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
