The Godskin Apostle is fought in two locations throughout Elden Ring, though it can appear with its larger friend the Godskin Noble in several other fights. On its own, the Godskin Apostle is far from Elden Ring's hardest boss, but not avoiding its second-phase spinning attacks can be a quick death sentence.

For melee players, the ability to stagger makes this fight relatively easy. It's not such an easy fight for ranged builds, though, who have to dodge incoming Black Flame attacks constantly while casting. If you want the Godskin Peeler, an amazing thrusting weapon, or want to roleplay as a Godskin for some twisted reason, you must find and beat these bosses.

Where To Fight The Godskin Apostle

Player Fighting Godskin Apostle

There are four Godskin Apostles in Elden Ring, but only two are fought on their own. The Godskin Duo features both the Godskin Noble and Apostle at once, while the Spiritcaller Cave in the Mountaintops of Giants has players fight a Godskin Apostle followed by a Godskin Noble.

The first solo fight against a Godskin Apostle can be found in Windmill Village in northern Altus Plateau. Go through the village (most of the Midsommar-esque enemies won't attack you), to find the Apostle atop a hill high above. It is implied that the residents of Windmill Village ritualistically skin people as offerings to the Apostle.

The second solo Godskin Apostle is located in Greyoll's Dragonbarrow, the high-level northern half of Caelid. It is found at the base of the Divine Tower of Caelid, where players can also restore Radahn's Great Rune. To get there, jump over the railing inside the Tower near the Site of Grace at the top, and carefully platform your way down several pillars to find an Elevator to another Site of Grace outside the boss door. It's a good idea to use the Twiggy Cracked Tear or equip a Sacrificial Twig to prevent rune loss.

Godskin Apostle Strategies And Tips

The Godskin Apostle is the taller, lankier of the two Godskin enemies players fight in Elden Ring, and its attacks are more sweeping and long-range compared to the Godskin Noble. It likes to quickly hurl Black Flame spells when players go for their healing flask, so having a distraction like a Spirit Summon is extremely useful.

In Windmill Village there aren't many places to hide from these long-range attacks, but in the Caelid Divine Tower basement hiding in an alcove can give you a second to heal. The Godskins are susceptible to few things, but they can be staggered relatively quickly, and are susceptible to Sleep.

Melee Strategies

The Godskin Apostle is very fast and able to stretch out its body to make melee attacks even when much too far away. It has one move, in particular, that is rough for melee players: when the Godskin Apostle rears back with its twinblade, it then propels itself forward while rapidly spinning the twinblade in all directions. To dodge this, watch for it to rear back and start sprinting the opposite direction. If you begin running right as the animation starts, it won't be able to reach you and will leave itself open for a few seconds of attacks.

The Apostle is weak to Bleed damage, and can be reliably staggered with an aggressive playstyle. To reliably stun this boss, consider powerstancing weapons or two-handing your primary weapon for maximum Poise damage. If you powerstance two Bleed weapons, the Godskin Apostle is far easier to handle at close range.

Ranged and Caster Strategies

The Godskin Apostle is a little bit easier as a Ranged or Spell-oriented player, as hitting them from a range reduces the number of attacks they can use. From a range, the Apostle will instead rely mostly on Black Flame attacks, which come out much faster than most expect. Consider using the Radagon Icon Talisman to reduce your casting time, and opt for spells that you don't have to charge so that you can fire and keep moving as the Godskin Apostle prepares a Black Flame to interrupt you.

They are really good at reacting when the player performs an action, most noticeably while healing, so try spells like Comet for quick damage, or get close and pop off a Founding Rain of Stars to continuously deal Posture damage and make it much easier to stagger the Godskin Duo with follow-up attacks.

Cheesing Strategies

The main strategy for cheesing this boss is through the use of Sleep. It is surprisingly easy to put both types of Godskin to sleep, a strategy that comes into use later on with the Godskin Duo boss as well. When facing down an Apostle, putting it to sleep is one of the best ways to give yourself time.

At the start of the fight, putting it to sleep lets players summon a Spirit Ash without fear of being Black Flamed, but it's also useful in the middle of the fight if you need a breather and time to heal up.

Rewards For Beating The Godskin Apostle

There are two Godskin Apostles fought on their own: one in Altus' Windmill Village and one below the Divine Tower of Caelid. For defeating the Godskin Apostle at the end of Dominula, Windmill Village, players get a base 14,000 Runes alongside the Godskin Peeler, a Twinblade with the Black Flame Tornado Weapon Skill, and the Scouring Black Flame Incantation, which sweeps the immediate area in the Godskin's Black Flame.

For defeating the Godskin Apostle beneath the Divine Tower of Caelid, found in the north part of the Dragonbarrow, players get a base 94,000 Runes and the entire Godskin Apostle Armor Set. The Godskin Apostle Armor Set doesn't confer special bonuses to its wearer, but it does look intimidating - just look closely at Apostle's Robe to see where the Godskins get their name.
