The First Elden Lord is toppled with ease once again as an Elden Ring player is able to defeat Godfrey at level 1 using a specific Ash of War. Elden Ring's combat is just like it's open world, wide and far-reaching, allowing just as much customizability in ones build as in their character customizer. If someone is capable of making Itachi from Naruto in Elden Ring, then they could most likely recreate his abilities in the game as well. So players try to go about beating bosses at as little a level as they can, and with the help of abilities like Ashes of War, that is made even easier.

Ashes of War are special items in Elden Ring, allowing players to replace the weapon skills and affinities of their equipment. This brings a new level of versatility to one's build, giving players a move they can switch out in case one fits their playstyle moreso than the original one. These can be a major difference in if the player wins or not, with some players even managing to take down Elden Ring's toughest boss Malenia with just Ashes of War.

Instead of Malenia, this player decided to go after Elden Ring's Godfrey, The First Elden Lord. Godfrey has two phases, both with their own fighting styles that shake up the boss fight. Posting to r/Eldenring, user gilfordtan uploaded a video where their level 1 character takes on Godfrey using the two-handed curved sword Dismounter with the Ash of War called Lightning Slash. With this combination, and the knowledge of each phase's moveset, the player creates a fight that is pleasing to the eye, dodging every attack smoothly while just getting in enough damage to stagger Godfrey again and again, through both phases, until he falls.

Since Godfrey has two phases, it requires players to adapt to the sudden change of attack, with his latter phase Hoarah Loux having the ability to suplex two players at once. However, in both phases, Godfrey is weak to lightning, making the Lightning Slash a perfect Ash of War to counter against the boss. With that vulnerability in mind, even if the player is level 1, Godfrey can be taken down with ease as long as the player knows his movesets.

There is no end to the creativity of players and their builds in Elden Ring, with some of them even turning themselves into living furnaces for Elden Ring's PVP. If there's a will, there's a way, and with the amount of things a player can do in Elden Ring, the sky is practically the limit. If one takes the time to explore the combat and experiment, they might find something worthy of taking on all The Lands Between has to offer.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
