Elden Ring will probably end up being From Software’s most successful game by a large margin. Bandai Namco has been advertising Elden Ring like any major AAA release, including promotion on buses in the UK and a live-action trailer featuring The Mandalorian's Ming-Na Wen.

Elden Ring’s performance issues are well-known at this point and have seemingly not impacted its sales. The PC version has stuttering problems irrespective of the specs, and the console versions suffer from a highly unstable frame rate. It seems like most of the issues are related to its performance, and users have not reported too many major glitches or game-breaking bugs in Elden Ring. However, it seems like one user has found a bug that hilariously leads to their death.

User Tafred11 uploads a short clip in which they backstab Preceptor Miriam inside the Carian Study Hall in Elden Ring. Players who have completed this area are well-aware of the fact that Miriam can quickly teleport short distances with ease. In this case, Miriam teleports right as the backstab animation starts, but Tafred11 is transported outside the level and falls to their death.

Preceptor Miriam is an NPC invader who can be annoying to deal with, especially for Strength builds, and players in the comments section are sharing their hatred for this fight. It looks like Tafred11 is a melee character as they are using the Grafted Blade Greatsword, which requires 40 Strength and 14 Dexterity to wield effectively. It’s impressive that Tafred11 managed to initiate a backstab, to begin with, and it seems like Miriam was just one hit away from dying before the user got teleported outside.

Other users have shared some tips and strategies such as using specific equipment to block or parry the arrow, or even using poison or scarlet rot to deplete her HP. Many users have seemingly resorted to “cheesing” this fight to finish this area. Ranged characters in Elden Ring, on the other hand, should not have a difficult time with this encounter.

Such glitches probably don’t have a big impact on the overall enjoyment of the game. Still, it’s unfortunate to see it happen during an annoying fight, especially when it looked like the player would come out on top. The world of Elden Ring is filled with many invading NPCs, with some being tied to specific quest lines. Thankfully, they do not respawn and players can continue exploring the area after defeating them.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
