Spell Slots are now called Memory Slots in Elden Ring. Memory Slots are stats that determine how many spells Tarnished can wield. Previously, in old Souls games, leveling up a certain stat would've increased the amount of Spell Slots a character can have. However, now in Elden Ring, Spell Slots can only be increased by obtaining items called Memory Stones.

Elden Ring heavily leans into its magical side, where some abilities are somewhat overpowered. So having more Memory Slots in Elden Ring helps players overcome many dangerous scenarios. So it is essential for the Tarnished to be prepared when it comes to wielding the right amount of spells during combat.

The stones are said to resemble fragments taken from the black moon that used to light the Eternal City. Memory Stones are crucial for many players, especially those who use Sorcery or Incantation as it increases their Spell Slots in Elden Ring. Because some spells require more than one slot to be equipped, it’s important to collect all available Memory Stones to be ready for any battle while exploring the Lands Between.

How To Get Memory Slots In Elden Ring

To get Memory Slots in Elden Ring, players have to find Memory Stones. Once these Stones are obtained, they will immediately increase Spell Slots for the current character (without having to do anything). Obtaining more Memory Slots allow players to perform a variety of Sorceries and Incantations. That can be helpful in tough situations where a certain spell can save the day.

To assign Sorceries and Incantations, players should rest at a Site of Lost Grace. From there, scroll down and press Memorize Spells. This page contains all the spells the Tarnished learned and can be equipped to use. Players should keep in mind that Staffs are used to cast Sorcery spells while Sacred Seals can cast Incantation spells.

Where to get Memory Stones in Elden Ring

Memory Stones are obtained from Chests, defeating Bosses, or bought From NPCs. As this item is important, it’s not a surprise that Memory Stones are difficult to get. Players have to search carefully all across the Lands Between. However, some can still be obtained early in the game, like the Memory Stone located inside the Roundtable Hold. Players can access this area as soon as they reach Margit, The Fell Omen boss fight. It cost 3000 Runes, so come prepared.

While other Memory Stones in Elden Ring are harder to find or require some kind of puzzle-solving abilities. Some of these Elden Ring locations can be visited to easily get Memory Stones:

Roundtable Hold	Twin Maiden's Chamber	Purchase Memory Stone from Twin Maiden Husks for 3000 Runes.
Limgrave	Weeping Peninsula, Oridys's Rise	To enter Oridys's Rise, players need to seek three wise beasts. These beasts are represented by three ghost turtles that must be struck to enter the tower. The first one can be found across the tower’s entrance. The second is hiding in the bushes on the left side of the stairs. The third one is invisible and can be found southwest of the tower in a pond.
Liurnia of the Lakes	Western Liurnia, Converted Tower	There are two methods to enter the Converted Tower: Climb the outer broken walls outside the tower then use it to jump on the roof and grab the Memory Stone. Grab the second Glintstone Key from the Academy of Raya Lucaria and give it to Thops to get the Erudition gesture. After that, go back to the academy and loot his Bell Bearing from his corpse and then use the gesture in front of the statue inside the tower to make a ladder appear.
	Northern Liurnia, Raya Lucaria Academy	A Memory Stone can be obtained after defeating the Red Wolf of Radagon.
	Northern Liurnia, Testu’s Rise	Like Oridys's Rise, players need to seek three wise beasts, which means finding three ghost turtles. The first is northeast of the tower, The second is southeast from the first one hiding on top of a tree. The third turtle can be found southeast of Testu’s Rise down the cliff.
	Three Sisters, Seulvis’s Rise	On the top floor of Seulvis’s Rise, there is a Memory Stone inside a chest.
Altus Plateau	Mt. Gelmir, Hermit Village	A Memory Stone can be obtained after defeating Demi-Human Queen Maggie.
Caelid	Dragonbarrow, Lenne’s Rise	Use the Spirit Spring found on the south side of Lenne’s Rise to jump on the balcony, then go inside and open the chest to get the Memory Stone.

Of course, Elden Ring is a massive game, and more Memory Stones can still be found hidden across the Lands Between. In all cases, it will be a fun ride to search and locate all that Elden Ring has to offer.
