Over the years, RPGs have drastically changed in size and gameplay capability, from the early days of Dragonstomper (often regarded as the first RPG), where players could only move through generic corridors, to Skyrim, which placed players in a large open-world filled with life. But then FromSoftware released Elden Ring, reinventing the entire open-world RPG genre.

In Elden Ring, players have hundreds of possible weapon combinations, from using fist-like weapons to powerful spells and incantations. And one incantation that players will want to have in their arsenal is Flame, Grant Me Strength. But, nothing is easy to obtain in Elden Ring, so players will need guidance to reach this prized incantation.

How to Reach Fort Gael

Elden Ring Fort Gael Map

Fort Gael is located south of Limegrave (near the Third Church of Marika Site of Grace) or west of Caelid (between Gaol Cave and Caelid Waypoint Ruins). Due to its location within Caelid, players can expect to fight several challenging enemies like Giant Dogs, Maneuverable Flamethrowers, and Rotten Strays before reaching Fort Gael. So, if a player is under-leveled or would rather avoid fighting, it's recommended to reach Fort Gael through south Limegrave (see image below) since the enemies in this area are much easier to fight.

As players reach the area where Fort Gael is located, they'll find a Site of Grace called "Fort Gael North Site"(see image below). It's recommended players rest at this site since this area is heavily guarded by Radahn Knights, Radahn Soldiers, and Maneuverable Flamethrowers.

Reaching Flame, Grant Me Strength

Elden Ring Fort Gael View

From the Fort Gael North Site of Grace players should head south where they should see Fort Gael in the distance, up on a cliff (players should also see Minor Erdtree from Mistwood directly behind it). There are several Radahn Solider camps between the Site of Grace and Fort Gael and two Maneuverable Flamethrowers patrolling the area, which are among the most annoying enemies to fight in Elden Ring. It's highly recommended to use Torrent to run pass these enemies since they'll prove challenging to fight together.

Ramp & Main Entrance

Once players pass these camps, they'll reach a ramp that leads to the main gate of Fort Gael. Players should head up this ramp, pass two wooden spike defenses and continue heading up the ramp until they reach the main gate where they'll need to turn left. Players should be careful going up the ramp since there's a Radahn Knight with a Longbow that can easily kill a player if ignored.

Left Side of Fort Gael & Flame, Grant Me Strength Location

Players should continue to hug the left side of Fort Gael until they pass a large root. At this point, players should prepare themselves since around the corner there will be two Maneuverable Flamethrowers that cannot be avoided. The best strategy to fight these fiery machines is to lure one out, defeat them, and then lure the remaining one. The good news is that players can use a Spirit Ash, like the Black Knife Tiche or Lhutel The Headless to fight these ill-omened machines. Once defeated, players will see Flame, Grant Me Strength on a corpse that's sitting against a wall in front of a large campfire.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
