Elden Ring takes place in a gorgeous and intricately-designed fantasy world filled with wondrous sights and horrifying secrets. Easily the most iconic fantastical element of the game is the massive Erdtree, a gigantic glowing tree that looms over the player in almost every part of the map. Recently, one Elden Ring fan decided to find out exactly how tall the Erdtree is in-game, and they seem to have discovered the answer.

The Erdtree is a giant luminous tree with its roots in Leyndell, Royal Capital, an important location in Elden Ring. It's so large that it can be seen from virtually anywhere and looms tall over the mountains and forests of The Lands Between. The Erdtree is so big that one dungeon takes place entirely in the depths of its roots.

The sheer scale of the Erdtree is easy to see, but gamers have been a bit unclear on exactly how big the tree is meant to be in-game. YouTuber Zullie the Witch decided to find out and measured the Erdtree in a recent video titled "Elden Ring - How tall is the Erdtree?" The YouTuber measured the Erdtree's model from the very bottom of its trunk to the highest branch and concluded that it is about 5,048 meters tall. That's about 16,562 feet in the imperial system of measurement.

While the question of how tall the full in-game model of the Erdtree is has been answered, another question still remains. The next thing Zullie the Witch decided to find out was how tall the part of the Erdtree visible above ground in the game was. Answering this question turned out to be a bit more difficult, as the amount of the Erdtree visible above ground changes depending on which part of the map players are standing in. However, from the heart of Leyndall, it appears that the above-ground portion of the Erdtree is 4,452 meters or about 14,606 feet tall.

According to Zullie the Witch, this measurement is accurate to the in-game model because they used the in-game measurements. Most FromSoftware games feature meters as the default, built-in unit of measurement used for in-game coordinate data. This means that measuring the height or length of an in-game item is as simple as recording the coordinates at either end of the item. This would imply that their measurement of the Erdtree is very close to the size it would be in real life.

Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
