If players want to succeed in Elden Ring, they need to make sure that they have the proper build. This means equipping the right armor for the job, with some pieces of armor offering buffs that complement certain play styles. Elden Ring players will collect plenty of gear during their journeys in the Lands Between, whether it's dropped from enemies or found in hidden locations, and some of this gear comes with bizarre backstories.

So is the case with the Envoy Crown in Elden Ring. The Envoy Crown is a Helm worn by the Oracle Envoys, enemies that are primarily found at Leyndell, Royal Capital and Miquella's Haligtree. The Envoy Crowns seem innocent enough on the surface, but their item description hints at something more disturbing. As pointed out by Reddit user Pirate-CoConut, the Envoy Crown item description says: "No one knows what the cloth hides, but some claim to have heard a faint whimpering from inside. It must have been their imagination."

It's unclear exactly what this is referring to, but Elden Ring fans have their theories. One theory suggests that the whispering is one of Elden Ring's Outer Gods talking to the Oracle Envoys. Another theory suggests that the Envoy Crown is hiding an Albinauric head, with the Oracle Envoys themselves theorized to be third generation Albinaurics, so it could be some other kind of deformity. For the uninitiated, the Albinaurics in Elden Ring are frog-like, humanoid creatures that were created by humans.

It's possible there is still more left to uncover that could give Elden Ring players even more insight on the Oracle Envoys and their possible connection to the Albinaurics, but that remains to be seen. Perhaps if FromSoftware moves forward with the long-rumored Elden Ring DLC expansion, fans will get more answers, but it's possible any DLC for the game won't focus on any of this at all, so it's best to keep one's expectations in check.

In the meantime, if one wants to get an Envoy Crown for themselves, they will need to make their way to Miquella's Haligtree. Go to the Haligtree Canopy Site of Grace and reach the branch with the Giant Ants and Oracle Envoy Giant. An Envoy Crown can then be looted from a corpse found on the tree. It doesn't appear to drop from the Oracle Envoys that wear them, so this is seemingly the only way to get one's hand on an Envoy Crown in the game.

The Envoy Crown has some practical uses, as it buffs bubble-based skills like Bubble Shower, Oracular Bubble, and Great Oracular Bubble. If players combine the Envoy Crown, the Envoy's Long Horn, and Bubble Shower, they can make the fight against Dragonlord Placidusax much easier.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
