It’s no surprise that the world of Elden Ring is populated with impractical clothing. The Lands Between is filled with horrors, and everything seems to be out for blood. Whether it’s random flowers in a swamp that shoots beams of light and poison or strange creatures that blow bubbles. Everything is deadly.

It would be hard to seek the newest fashion in the Lands Between with everything trying to embark in murderous intent. There’s a notable lack of clothing stores, and with the player protagonist stealing all the clothes available, it’s no surprise that the interesting characters that inhabit Elden Ring wear impractical clothes.

8 Bloody Finger Hunter Yura

Yura is an NPC that can be found in Elden Ring. He’s friendly to the player protagonist and can be found just south of the Dragon-Burnt Ruins at Agheel Lake. He’ll help to warn the player of any evils nearby, and even assist against the Bloody Finger Nerijus invader.

Yura looks cool and has the style expected from a Japanese ronin. However, where the ronin’s straw hat covers just over the brow, Yura’s hat covers over his chest, making visibility very obscured. Not only this but it’s made of metal, which must be rather heavy, especially when trying to roll and jump out of the way of attacks.

7 Corhyn

As an incantation merchant, Corhyn can be found upon the first entry into the Roundtable Hold. However, the character will leave the safety of such a sanctity once the player reaches the Altus Plateau in the Lands Between.

Corhyn is hard to miss, mainly because of the odd way he dresses. The character wears what one would expect of a monk, with an orange fabric draped as a shirt. What’s most peculiar about the character, is that he wears a wheel around his neck. It’s a good invention to stop him from hitting his head on walls, but it’s rather impractical for sleeping with, especially when it seems to be locked into place.

6 Seluvis

Few characters are as rude as Seluvis, and it could be his projection due to his clothing. As one of Lunar Princess Ranni’s Vassals, Seluvis proves himself as a nefarious schemer, and a seller of sorcery spells. He has an adoration for human puppets, which can be creepy, much like his clothes.

Seluvis wears a giant hat, similar in fashion to Big Hat Logan from the Dark Souls series. His visibility is not obscured by this hat, but he wears thick black robes to hide his skin, as well as a metal mask. It must be hard to breathe under all that attire, especially when the sun is always rising in the Lands Between.

5 Sellen

Located in the cellar at Waypoint Ruins, Sellen is a sorcerer and a merchant of spells. She can also teach the player scrolls that she is given, and acts as a rather wise character, with an unfortunate quest to her name. Sellen may have a great mind, but her fashion sense is far from great.

Her clothing is impractical, as she wears scholar robes. In a world where everything has something sharp to impale with, scholar robes are not efficient. She also wears a stone mask, which must be heavy. Worst of all, she has no socks or shoes, meaning her feet are being scuffed under the dirt of the grotesque world.

4 Malenia The Severed

Malenia was a demigod and Empyrean for Elden Ring. She’s one of the main bosses of the game and provides the player with a challenge like no other. Many declare Malenia as one of the hardest bosses in a FromSoftware game, and there’s certainly a reason for it.

If players can get through Malenia’s first phase, they will encounter the second, which is arguable even harder. To note, Malenia goes through a costume change and sheds her practical armor for a less than a practical set of scales. Malenia sheds her clothes to be somewhat naked, which isn’t a great idea in combat.

3 Rya

Rya is noted as one of the sweetest characters in Elden Ring. Many players argue and fight in her favor, despite the NPC being blissfully unaware of the players’ love for her. She resides in the Volcano Manor and even invited the player thereafter they found her lost necklace.

Rya has a big secret, and that isn’t her poor back posture. Rya is a serpent and sheds her human form to become a snake. She still wears her dress as a cape, with her necklace helping it to drape over her. However, as a serpent with nothing revealing, it’s pretty impractical, especially for a cold-blooded creature.

2 The Tarnished

The Tarnished, a character compelled to become Elden Lord, embarks on many cosmetic changes throughout the game. There are a plethora of outfits to wear. From headpieces to torsos, and even different shoes. The Tarnished, of course, is the player-created character, and the protagonist of Elden Ring.

What makes The Tarnished one of the more impractical clothes wearer is the fact that the player gets to choose themselves. Famous players like Let Me Solo Her have been seen in nothing but a loincloth and a pot for a head. As impractical as this is, due to the obscurity and lack of armor, he makes short work of Malenia.

1 Goldmask

Goldmask was also a Tarnished. Not only is this part of the lore, but it becomes pretty obvious when one considers how only a player could come up with such an attire. Goldmask wears a bracelet and a loincloth that isn’t very good at hiding things. His mask looks like a flower with holes in it.

The character wears an entirely impractical piece of gear, but do not be fooled by his appearance. Goldmask can have major repercussions on the game of Elden Ring, one only has to pay attention to him.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
