Patch 1.04 for Elden Ring made several noteworthy changes to the game’s balance. It primarily focused on buffing strategies that were probably underutilized in Elden Ring instead of reducing the effectiveness of popular tactics.Sorceries and incantations received significant buffs in Elden Ring Patch 1.04, and FromSoftware made colossal weapons more viable. The patch also included several bug fixes, enhanced some weapon skills, and nerfed some strategies by reducing the Blood Loss buildup from Swarm of Flies. However, it appears that one popular Elden Ring tactic got unintentionally nerfed.RELATED: Elden Ring's Iron Fist Alexander Illustrated in Cuphead's Rubber Hose StyleFromSoftware posted a new Tweet mentioning that the duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear’s effect was reduced in Patch 1.04. The developer confirmed that this was an unintentional nerf that will get reversed in a minor Elden Ring update in the near future. FromSoftware apologized for any inconvenience caused, but did not share any specific timeline on when fans can expect this update.

The Cerulean Hidden Tear is a valuable item for magic builds, and players can use it by mixing it in the Flask of Wondrous Physick in Elden Ring. It completely ignores FP consumption for magic attacks and allows players to spam their most powerful spells. It’s an essential item for the Comet Azur build, as players can hold the beam for as long as the effect of the Cerulean Hidden Tear remains active. This effect lasted 15 seconds before Patch 1.04 but was reportedly reduced to just seven seconds afterwards.

Magic users are probably glad to hear that this nerf was unintentional, and FromSoftware will hopefully release the update in the coming days. This is not the first time the game received an unintentional nerf, as the boss fight against Starscourge Radahn in Elden Ring was accidentally made easier in last month's Patch 1.03. FromSoftware later released an update that reversed this change, although it took a couple of weeks to come out.

Patch 1.04 added some other changes not listed in the patch notes. The game now has a message that pops up when players approach the tutorial area of Elden Ring. It mentions that players can fall down a hole to go through the game’s tutorial, as it's pretty easy to miss and many users were probably not aware of its existence. Perhaps more changes introduced in Patch 1.04 will get revealed in the next few days as fans check the feasibility of their builds and try out new strategies.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
