There are tons of weapons for players to unlock, purchase, and find in Elden Ring. Many of the weapons that players will come across are suited for certain play styles and aesthetics, but there are a handful that are outright legendary, elevating the Tarnished to new heights of greatness thanks to their immense power. Players will want to obtain as many of these legendary items as possible, which is definitely easier said than done.

A lot of the legendary weapons found in Elden Ring are locked behind challenging content or imposing bosses but there are a few powerful items that Tarnished can stumble upon when exploring the expansive open world of the Lands Between. A great example is the Bolt of Gransax, a legendary spear that's fairly easy to reach as long as players have unlocked the correct area. Here's how to find it.

How To Find The Bolt Of Gransax In Elden Ring

Elden Ring Erdtree Sanctuary

Unfortunately, the Bolt of Gransax can't be snagged in the early game as it's hidden deep within the hard-as-nails Leyndell, Royal Capital. Just getting to the capital itself is a bit of a chore as players will have to have successfully pieced together the Dectus Medallion and unlocked the Altus Plateau. Alternatively, players can make their way through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice and take on Magma Wyrm Makar. Both paths are long and arduous, and players will then need to take on another imposing boss to make it within the city walls. Once they've arrived in Leyndell, Royal Capital, they'll need to make their way through the expansive city until they reach a large winding tree branch and travel up it until they're met by a ghostly apparition of Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. Once players defeat the golden apparition, they'll unlock the Edtree Sanctuary Site of Grace.

From the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace, players should head out the door on the far side and down the steps, towards a small building that has an elevator inside. Riding the elevator down will put players in a balcony-area, where they can see a massive twisting root-like object in the distance. From there, players should continue to go down the stairs and towards the twisting object, stopping on the balcony when they are lined up with the massive spiraling structure.

There is a small break in the balcony wall that players can hop over to land on the small stone roof below, allowing them to then travel up the large spiraling object. About halfway up, players should see a glowing object. Grabbing it will reward them with the Bolt of Gransax.

What Does The Bolt Of Gransax Do?

The Bolt of Gransax is a legendary spear that requires a hefty 40 Dexterity and 20 Strength to wield. It's a solid mid-range weapon that's fast, but doesn't have particularly good scaling even at higher levels (C for Dex and D for Str).

Where it really shines is its Weapon Art. The Bolt of Gransax comes equipped with the Ancient Lightning Spear unique skill, which allows players to imbue the Bolt of Gransax with ancient dragon's red lightning and then toss it at foes. It's a great ranged ability and does a ton of damage, especially with items and incantations that buff the player. It can even be charged to do additional damage, making it a great weapon for chipping down tanky foes.
