In Elden Ring weapons that heal and are heavy enough to reliably stagger enemies are pretty rare. There are a handful of Talismans in the game that give players self-healing abilities, like the Godskin Swaddling Cloth which procs on successive attacks, or the Assassin's Crimson Dagger which restores Health with Critical Hits.

The Blasphemous Blade is a Greatsword that can be acquired relatively late into Elden Ring, and thanks to its self-healing abilities and incredibly powerful Ash of War it's one of the best end-game weapons for Faith-based players. By using certain Talismans to stack the healing effect and increase the already-powerful Weapon Skill, the Blasphemous Blade is arguably one of Elden Ring's most broken Greatswords.

Elden Ring Blasphemous Blade Build Stats

The Blasphemous Blade scales equally with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith until upgraded to higher levels, which can be done with Somber Smithing Stones. At +10 the sword has C scaling in both Strength and Dexterity and a B in Faith. Though it might not be upgraded to the max level, it's still important to make Faith your highest stat as the Taker's Flames Ash of War relies on it.

The above table is based on a Level 100 character who started as a Wretch. Having a decent Vigor level at the later stages of the game is essential, and a 20 in Mind means being able to cast Taker's Flames more often. Four points in Endurance helps to offset the weapon's high Weight. With Strength at 25 and Dexterity at 20 the Blasphemous Blade gets most of the benefits of scaling until higher upgrade levels, and a 50 in Faith means a much stronger Ash of War.

At the highest upgrade level, this Weapon Skill can easily do upwards of 1500 damage and knock over all but the largest of opponents - even Malenia, Blade of Miquella in her first phase.

How To Get the Blasphemous Blade

Elden-Ring-Rykard-2

The Blasphemous Blade can be found at the end of the Volcano Manor, after defeating Rykard, the Lord of Blasphemy. Players get the Remembrance of the Blasphemous and Rykard's Great Rune, and the Remembrance can be traded with Enia for the Blasphemous Blade.

Be sure to get your stats up to the minimum required to equip this Blade and use its Weapon Skill - players have to have 22 in Strength, 15 in Dexterity, and 21 in Faith, but it's a good idea to invest much more to make the Blade more effective. By going into New Game Plus a second Blasphemous Blade can be earned, making for one of Elden Ring's most broken dual-wielding setups.

Incantations and Side Weapons for the Blasphemous Blade

Because the Blasphemous Blade scales so well with Faith, it's a good idea to lean into Incantations as a secondary part of your build. If you don't use a shield, you can keep your casting Seal out at all times and use it when not in melee range, which can help keep enemy Poise broken at a distance and increase overall damage output.

Some good Incantations to pair with the Blasphemous Blade include defensive spells that complement its Health regeneration effect, like Blessing of the Erdtree, or that can be used offensively to create attack windows, like the Flame of the Fell God. If Incantations don't sound good to you, having a 100% block shield in the offhand is never a bad option, or you can pair it with another Faith-based Greatsword to unlock a special dual-wield moveset. The Godslayer's Greatsword, Golden Order Greatsword, or Ordovis' Greatsword are all solid picks.

Talismans and Armor To Pair With The Blasphemous Blade

The Blasphemous Blade is good at two things: keeping players alive against multiple enemies, and knocking just about anyone to the ground with its Weapon Skill. Use Talismans that complement these strengths. The Carian Filigree Crest lowers FP consumption of the Taker's Flames skill, and the Shard of Alexander makes it a seriously cost-effective powerhouse.

The Taker's Cameo is a Talisman tailor made for the Blasphemous Blade as it restores HP upon slaying an enemy, which stacks with the weapon's exact same passive effect. You can also pair this build with the Assassin's Cerulean Dagger, so that every time you defeat an enemy both FP and HP will be restored.

When it comes to the Elden Bling factor, there are a few directions that complement the Blasphemous Blade's ghoulish aesthetic. Blood-themed light clothing like the Lord of Blood's Robe are good for keeping Weight down and matching the weapon's color scheme. After defeating Rykard, re-load the boss room and defeat the person you find near his corpse to get the Consort's Set, the helmet of which is perfectly suited for a wielder of such a Blasphemous armament.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
