Caelid, a.k.a. Australia, is out to kill any Tarnished who even so much as dares to breathe in the atmosphere in Elden Ring. But players can still outsmart this deadly environment and make bank with Runes by farming in specific Caelid spots.

In Elden Ring, there are also certain requirements for some of these farming spots, though nothing too arduous to procure. A Bleed weapon, some Mimic Veils, and of course, Torrent himself along with a bit of hazardous trekking through underground areas to reach portals or shortcuts will do the trick.

9 Quick List Of Farming Locations

  • Dragon Farm Near Fort Faroth
  • Battleground Near The Impassable Greatbridge
  • Narrow Trench Near Deep Siofra Well
  • Forsaken & Caelem Ruins
  • Sellia, Town Of Sorcery
  • Road To Bestial Sanctum
  • Ball Farm Near Lenne's Rise
  • War-Dead Catacombs

That's the summary of the locations that will grant the most efficient or most risk-free amount of Runes. Of course, Caelid being Caelid, it's not as simple as walking up to the place (unless players are on NG+ or are familiar with the locale already). Because there are still risks involved in acquiring as many Runes as possible in Caelid. For more details, read on, Tarnished.

8 Dragon Farm Near Fort Faroth

This spot yeilds around 80,000 Runes and a lot more if players use a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. It's also the farming spot that requires a Bleed weapon. It can also be accessed as soon as players acquire Torrent.

To get to Fort Faroth from Limgrave, go to the Third Church of Marika, there's a portal there to the north of the ruins, by the pond. This will take players to the Beastial Sanctum. All they have to do is ride south, cross the bridge (run past the dragon) and look for the Spirit Spring jumping pad near the Minor Erdtree (careful of the Edrtree Avatar).

This will take players to Fort Faroth. Just outside the fort is a huge sick dragon. Players simply need to walk up to it and attack it from behind with a Bleed weapon until it dies. Don't worry about the smaller dragons nearby.

7 Battleground Near The Impassable Greatbridge

impassable greatbridge area

Is the dragon slumber party too tedious? Then this AFK Rune farm area should be better. It's a battleground near the Impassable Greatbridge Site of Grace which also happens to be near the portal to Redmane Castle. Players can even just stand near the Site of Grace to avoid aggro.

The Redmane soldiers will kill some rats and other beast enemies afflicted with Scarlet Rot. Players can move closer to ensure maximum Rune transfer. Just be careful with the distance. Players are then free to do whatever they want while the Redmane Soldiers do all the work.

6 Narrow Trench Near Deep Siofra Well

Another area that players can farm in relative safety is near the Deep Siofra Well. West of the Site of Grace is a narrow trench filled with enemies that kill themselves by exploding. Simply run past them using Torrent for the free Runes. It's not much but the Site of Grace is nearby and it's easy to repeat this farming method.

If players want, they can also kill the Abnormal Stone Clusters (the worm-things) too. These give more Runes compared to their exploding cousins and they're easy to kill and don't aggro when their comrades get attacked. There's also a giant archer at the end of the trench if players are feeling bold enough.

5 Forsaken & Caelem Ruins

Players don't even need to go far to spot an effortless farming area in Caelid. As soon as they enter the area, they'll come upon two ruins; the Forsaken Ruin and the Caelem Ruin. Both of these areas are filled with zombified enemies that are too slow to be a threat.

There are fast ones; those that explode as a form of attack but they can also be used to one's advantage. Simply cluster them up and wait for the excited ones to explode. No need for fighting in certain scenarios. Do be wary of some tough enemies in the area like T-rex dogs or a Maneuverable Flamethrower.

4 Sellia, Town Of Sorcery

The whole town of Sellia isn't very hospitable to outsiders but at least it can be a goldmine for Runes. There are a couple of Sites of Grace around the town and the enemies aren't too tough and they're plentiful.

Players don't even have to do the fighting themselves because Spirit summons are available in this area. They can summon an upgraded pack of wolves or a Banished Knight ash to deal with the sorcerers. It's also easy to reset the whole area and perform the slaughter again.

3 Road To Bestial Sanctum

Those who have already unlocked the Bestial Sanctum and the Farum Greatbridge will have also unlocked another great spot. Starting from the Farum Greatbridge, players simply need to make their way up north, following the road. They'll eventually see some Vulgar enemies.

These Vulgar minions are susceptible to backstabs and ranged attacks and some of them will also be facing north, meaning they won't see the player's approach. Each one of them will net around 1,000 Runes on a New Game session (more on NG+) and there are around 20 of them located both east and west of the road.

2 Ball Farm Near Lenne's Rise

Again near the Farum Greatbridge, there is another area where players can shower themselves with Runes except this one is more effortless. It involves going to Lenne's Rise which is the tower to the southeast of the Farum Greatbridge Site of Grace.

Once players have unlocked the Lenne's Rise Site of Grace, they can venture northeast a bit and look for a steel ball enemy that will spawn. Players merely have to position themselves with their back facing the ledge while they wait for the ball enemy to spawn. A simple side roll once the ball enemy rolls should suffice. This will kill the enemy without much incident. Rinse and repeat, each kill can yield 2,000 Runes.

1 War-Dead Catacombs

For this farming spot to become unlocked, players will have to have defeated Starscourge Radahn first. Because in the beach battleground where the fight takes place, there's a dungeon to the north called War-Dead Catacombs. The area is full of Redmane Knights and Cleanrot Knights duking it out.

This happens soon after players enter the dungeon. Players will have to disguise themselves with the Mimic Veil to not attract the battling knights as they sneak closer for more runes. It takes a bit of trial and error to find the safest spot but the Rune yield is quite high once they're all done killing one another.

Elden Ring is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
