It's been over two months since FromSoftware released the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, and since then, players from all over have enjoyed (and sometimes suffered) exploring the vast map of Lands Between. Nevertheless, Elden Ring has proven that an unforgiving game can still be fun, even if that means dying multiple times to a boss or enemy.

And with the Update 1.03, players needed to readjust their tactics as FromSoftware rebalanced certain weapons and enemies. Fortunately, Elden Ring has plenty of craftable items to help players survive any encounter, even if some enemies are harder than before. But, with so many craftable things available in Elden Ring, players will need to know which one is worth having equipped at all times.

Updated July 6, 2022 by Daniel Dilena: Elden Ring has proved to be one of the most enjoyable and replayable FromSoftware games. And that's because players have the freedom of deciding how to complete the main story, from embracing the Frenzied Flame or helping Ranni the Witch with her quest. Furthermore, some players have enjoyed the game so much they have beaten the game over 15 times.

Apart from the six different endings, Elden Ring has dozens of weapons, armors, and sorceries /incantations, allowing players to experiment with new builds. But, whether a player is a glass-cannon mage or an "Unga Bunga" warrior, the importance of crafting items remains the same. That's why we've decided to expand this post, so you know which are the best things to craft in Elden Ring.

15 Glowstone

Glowstone from Elden Ring

Effects:

  • Emits a Faint Light From the Location It Is Placed

How To Craft:

  • Ruin Fragment (x1)
  • Dewkissed Herba (x1)

Even though players can use a Lantern or Torch to illuminate dark areas in Elden Ring, nothing compares to the illumination that the Glowstone emits. This easy-to-craft item can be thrown anywhere and emit a powerful light that covers a large radius without despawning (unless the player leaves the area or quits the game).

Moreover, players can carry 99 Glowstones and store over 600 in the Storage, and since both crafting materials are easy to farm, players will never run out of Glowstones. This craftable item is also useful for creating a "breadcrumb" trail, making it easier to travel through dark tunnels or caves.

14 Sleeping Pot

Sleeping Pot from Elden Ring

Effects:

  • Throw to Cause Inflict Sleep

How To Craft:

  • Mushroom (x1)
  • Trina's Lily (x1)
  • Empty Cracked Pot (x1)

Sometimes players must resort to "cheesy" strategies to take down some of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring (especially the bosses found in the underground regions). And Sleep is one of the best status effects against bosses since it gives players a limited window of free hits before the boss wakes up.

That's why a practical Elden Ring crafting tip to follow is to carry as many Sleeping Pots as possible, as they will always come in handy against duo bosses. Moreover, enemies inflicted with Sleep will be vulnerable to a Critical Attack, making boss fights much easier. But, there are a limited number of Cracked Pots in Elden Ring, so players should choose carefully which fight to use the Sleeping Pot.

13 Bewitching Branch

Bewitching Branch from Elden Ring

Effects:

  • Uses FP to Charm Pierced Enemy

How To Craft:

  • Sacramental Bud (x1)
  • Miquella's Lily (x1)

The Bewitching Branch is perhaps one of the most underrated crafting items in Elden Ring since most players aren't aware of its true power, which is to charm almost any enemy (except bosses) into cooperating with the player. Once players use the Bewitching Branch, a tiny pink cloud will surround them, and any enemy that passes through it will become their allies for 3 minutes.

But, there are some downsides to one of the best craftable items in Elden Ring. For instance, charmed enemies can still hit the player, even if they aren't intentionally targeting them. Likewise, players can damage charmed enemies (but won't aggro them while being charmed), so players should use AOE attacks with caution if the player wants to avoid killing charmed enemies.

12 Soap

Soap Craftable Item from Elden Ring

Effects:

  • Removes Filth and Accumulations on the Body

How To Craft:

  • Melted Mushroom (x2)

Some Elden Ring fans believe this crafting item is more a meme or joke since it only washes your body, but there's more to it than a simple bubble bath. The Soap is a useful item to carry around since it removes any type of build-up from a player's character, and that's because it can continue to linger on the character's body even after using boluses.

For example, players who traverse the Lake of Rot will become drenched in Rot, but by using Soap, players can remove the build-up to a better extent. Moreover, players can use Soap to clean off player-thrown oil pots, which significantly increases damage.

11 Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot

Silver Pickled Foot from Elden Ring

Effects:

  • Temporarily Boosts Item Discover

How To Craft:

  • Rowa Fruit (x3)
  • Four-Toed Fowl Foot (x1)
  • Silver Firefly (x1)

Farming for loot is a core aspect in most open-world RPG games, especially if the best armor or weapon in the game is locked behind a particular enemy. Fortunately, the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot is one of the best craftable items in Elden Ring since it increases the drop rate of droppable items like armor, weapons, or crafting materials.

Players that want to shorten their farm time do well in using this craftable item since it increases Discovery Rate by 50 for 3 minutes. Of course, using this item doesn't guarantee an item to drop, so players should be prepared to pray to the RNG gods. The good news is that Demigod or Boss armors always drop from their corresponding bosses, so no farming is required.

10 Uplifting Aromatic

Uplifting Aromatic Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Boosts Ally Attack Power and Reduces Damage

How To Craft:

  • Altus Bloom (x1)
  • Budding Cave Moss (x1)
  • Silver Tear Husk (x1)
  • Arteria Leaf (x1)

It comes as no surprise that Elden Ring has plenty of challenging world bosses to fight in the entire FromSoftware universe. Fortunately, players can call for the aid of other Tarnished to help them defeat most bosses and enemies, which is why having the Uplifting Aromatic is essential.

This craftable item boosts the entire party's attack power and increases Damage Negation for a short period, which can turn the tide in a tough boss battle. And Uplifting Aromatic is even useful for solo players since Mimic Tear (the best Spirt Ash Summon) will periodically use it during a boss fight.

9 Neutralizing Boluses

Neutralizing Boluses Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Alleviates Poison Buildup and Cures Poison

How To Craft:

  • Herba (x1)
  • Cave Moss (x1)
  • Great Dragonfly Head (x1)

Players have always known that FromSoftware creates enemies and bosses that cause more than just damage but also inflict a plethora of status effects that'll slowly eat away a player's HP. And one of the most annoying status effects in Elden Ring is poison, as it slowly damages a player's HP while lasting up to a minute if nothing is done to cure it.

Fortunately, Neutralizing Boluses is one craftable item that can cure poison. But, the only way players can craft this item is by buying the Armorer's Cookbook [2], which the Nomadic Merchant sells for 600 Runes at the Coastal Cave.

8 Poisonbone Dart

Poisonbone Dart Craftable Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Throwable Item That Inflicts Damage and Poison Build Up

How To Craft:

  • Thin Beast Bones (x2)
  • Poisonbloom (x1)

Most players disregard using this Craftable Item since they see that it hardly does any damage, but that's not the main purpose of this item. Instead, the Poisonbone Dart is the perfect tool to bait enemies, especially those in large groups.

Moreover, players can use this Craftable Item to remove pesky enemies like Giant Bats or Rats since they have low HP, and a single Poisonbone Dart will take care of them. Furthermore, the Poisonbone Dart inflicts Poison Build Up (similar to the unique Coil Shield), which can help during boss fights.

7 Preserving Boluses

Preserving Boluses Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Alleviates Scarlet Rot Buildup and Cures Rot

How To Craft:

  • Dewkissed Herba (x2)
  • Crystal Cave Moss (x1)
  • Sacramental Bud (x1)

Arguably the most prevalent status effect in Elden Ring is that of Scarlet Rot, especially in the Caelid region of Lands Between. And to make matters worse, many of the hidden areas (like the Lake of Rot) are heavily covered in Scarlet Rot.

Fortunately, FromSoftware added a Craftable Item (Preserving Boluses) that can remove this pesky status effect. The only problem in crafting this item is that it's difficult to find Sacramental Bud, so players will need to carefully decide when to use Preserving Boluses as they are scarce but necessary to have always equipped.

6 Immunizing Cured Meat

Immunizing Cured Meat Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Temporarily Boosts Immunity

How To Craft:

  • Rowa Fruit (x5)
  • Sliver of Meat (x1)
  • Great Dragonfly Head (x1)
  • Smoldering Butterfly (x1)

As already mentioned, Elden Ring is filled with enemies that inflict status effects, many of which will kill a player if left untreated. This is why Immunizing Cured Meat is one of the best craftable items to have equipped since it boosts Immunity by 100 points for 60 seconds. But, players should keep in mind that it only boosts Immunity and doesn't cure status effects.

Players can acquire the Crafting Recipe for Immunizing Cured Meat by purchasing it from a Nomadic Merchant located in Liurnia of the Lakes or looting Armorer's Cookbook [5] in Redmane Castle.

5 Soft Cotton

Soft Cotton Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Temporarily Reduces Fall Damage and Sound

How To Craft:

  • Rowa Fruit (x3)
  • Smoldering Butterfly (x1)

Even though "Falling" isn't an actual enemy in Elden Ring, some players like to think of it as one. And the truth is that accidentally falling over a ledge or hillside will usually trigger instant death, especially if a player has invested only a little in Vigor.

Fortunately, Soft Cotton provides some sort of comfort to players who need to traverse through areas with lots of ledges like that of Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel (which is near one of the Walking Mausoleums). But, of course, this Craftable Item won't grant fall-damage immunity, but it'll at least increase the chances of surviving a fall.

4 Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot

Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Boosts Rune Acquisition for a Time

How To Craft:

  • Rowa Fruit (x3)
  • Four-Toed Fowl Foot (x1)
  • Gold Firefly (x1)

As most players already know, Runes are the only way a player can get stronger and essentially "Git Gud". But, Rune farming can be tedious since some of the best Rune Farming areas are only available after defeating Godrick the Grafted. The good news is that the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot can help players earn more Runes even in the early parts of the game.

And the best part is that they can acquire the Missionary's Cookbook (2) by "defeating" Patches in the Murkwater Cave. So, before starting a Rune Farming run, players should use a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot and watch their Rune acquisition go faster.

3 Stanching Boluses

Stanching Boluses Crafting item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Alleviates Impending Blood Loss

How To Craft:

  • Herba (x1)
  • Cave Moss (x1)
  • Land Octopus Ovary (x1)

The Hemorrhage status effect is quite popular among the PVP community since it after the Blood Loss meter fills up, the player receives a massive loss of blood AKA a chunk of their HP. So, players who enable Multiplayer Invasions should always carry a whole stack of Stanching Boluses as it'll help them survive the current Hemorrhage meta.

Even though several NPC vendors sell Stanching Boluses, it would be best if players found the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [7] located at the very edge of the collapsed bridge next to Stormveil Castle.

2 Warming Stone

Warming Stone Crafting item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • Uses FP to Heal Nearby Allies Continuously

How To Craft:

  • Erdleaf Flower (x1)
  • Smoldering Butterfly (x1)
  • Sanctuary Stone (x1)

The Warming Stone is another extremely useful Crafting Item in Elden Ring since it provides a powerful healing aura to everyone in its range. And, yes, everyone, which means that it'll heal enemies, so players should be cautious where they place it.

But, a well-placed Warm Stone can make a challenging battle a lot easier, so using it is a must. Moreover, the healing effect can be stacked with the Blessed Dew Talisman, further increasing its healing properties. Players can find the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [19] within the Woodfolk Ruins.

1 Frozen Raisin

Frozen Raisin Crafting Item from Elden Ring.

Effects:

  • On Horseback, Feed to Torrent to Vastly Restore HP

How To Craft:

  • Rimed Rowa (x1)

One of the newest combat mechanics that FromSoftware included in Elden Ring is that of Mounted-combat. And, they didn't hold back on creating bosses that require horseback. Because of that, players will want to make sure that their trusty-horned steed, Torrent, has enough HP to last the battle.

That's why players should always have Frozen Raisin on hand since as soon as Torrent loses all its HP, it'll disappear, and players will need to use one of their Flask of Crimson Tears to revive it. And as players can expect, getting dismounted during a boss battle can mean instant death.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
