The Astrologer

The Astrologer class will be one of ten classes available to gamers with the launch of Elden Ring. With FromSoftware recently revealing both the Astrologer and the Bandit classes for Elden Ring, fans can gain a better idea of what the class systems will be like and how they will complement gameplay.

The main benefit and function of class choice in Elden Ring is the according starting equipment and stats that each differing class offers, which range in complexity and difficulty. The Astrologer itself is an inherently magic-based class, making use of "glintstone sorcery" in combat. Given this, it is clear that the Astrologer role will be one of primarily ranged spell-based combat, trading in physical prowess and vitality for increased intelligence and magical ability.

Astrologer Starting Stats

Elden Ring Casting

The Astrologer class will see players start with an appealing set of base stats to aid a magic-oriented play style.

Starting at level 6, the Astrologer has relatively low strength at 8 points, as well as low faith with only 7 points. This, however, is greatly counterbalanced by their intelligence and mind stats, at 16 and 15 respectively. Interestingly, this is the greatest starting mind and intelligence stats across all the currently known classes. In this way, it is clear that the Astrologer will excel in the newly touted glintstone sorcery magic inherent to Elden Ring's gameplay, as well as having significant magical resistance.

Other starter stats currently known regarding the Astrologer are 9 vigor, 9 endurance, 12 dexterity, and 9 arcane. While it isn't currently confirmed, it can also be assumed that the Astrologer will have a very high Focus Point pool to pull from due to its high level of intelligence, allowing for the utilization of those aforementioned powerful spells and incantations.

Astrologer Armor

In addition to the starting stats for the Astrologer, the starting armor and gear that the Astrologer class will possess is also known. With armor playing an iconic role in FromSoftware games, fans are eagerly awaiting armor details.

The Astrologer will see players start the game sporting The Astrologer's Set armor. Although the exact stats of this starter attire are not currently known, it is more than likely that this armor will have stats which will positively influence magic-related stats, such as intelligence and mind.

The aesthetic of this armor is also not currently known. However, with the concept art of the Astrologer class that accompanied the teaser by FromSoftware, it can be assumed the starting garb will consist of a hooded robe.

Astrologer Weapons

In addition to wearing the Astrologer's Set armor, this class will also have its own starting weapons available to the player.

The weapons that the Astrologer will start with are the Astrologer's Staff and a Short Sword. This staff is most likely one of the Glintstone Staffs, a series-first weapon type, and will be the key tool to channeling the Astrologer's deep affinity for sorcery and magic attacks. Additionally, the Short Sword conveys the relative versatility of the Astrologer class, being able to fight at close-quarters as well as at range. Given the Astrologer's aforementioned high focus point count, players should also expect to enchant and apply magical properties to close-quarters weapons, to make more ranges of combat even more viable.

With the release of Elden Ring being imminent, players do not have to wait long to explore this class for themselves.

Elden Ring is set to release on February 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
