Elden Ring has been one of the most anticipated games on the market for well over a year now, with the next From Software game generating excitement in what feels like every corner of the internet. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much in the way of new information for a long time now. In fact, Elden Ring recently crossed a significant – though unfortunate – milestone since its announcement trailer.
It's now been 700 days since Elden Ring was announced, with the reveal trailer debuting on June 9, 2019, at E3. That means it's been nearly two years without any major updates on the game, a sore point for many of the members of the game's dedicated fan base. From Software games are typically well-received, which has been a big part of the driving forces behind the hype.
In the time since the reveal, fans have carved out entire communities built around swapping memes, game recommendations, and leaks of varying validity to help hold them over until Elden Ring lands on store shelves. Reddit, in particular, has become a self-aware epicenter of desperation for anxious fans, many of whom will cling to any new bit of information that makes its way to the Elden Ring SubReddit.

The lack of new information has been a consistent point of contention. It's not uncommon for game developers to slowly drip-feed information to fans, but the 700 days since Elden Ring's announcement have been a drought, with the only significant updates coming through unofficial channels. Some of these "leaks" have been disproven, though one leaked Elden Ring trailer has seemed legitimate, at least to a degree.
Fans are now hoping for information at E3 2021, which would mark something of a two-year anniversary for the announcement trailer. Bandai Namco, the game's publisher, has confirmed its involvement with the show, but it hasn't confirmed whether or not there will be new Elden Ring information for fans to soak up. Still, it does seem like the most likely place for an update.
Other events have come and gone with no luck, though, so fans may still want to temper their expectations, just in case. Rumors about potential release and trailer dates tend to spread like wildfire in the Elden Ring community, so those that have been following it closely may have been burned a few times already. On the bright side, though, each day gone is one day closer to when Elden Ring does finally release.
