Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle is in the final week of a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign. As the game continues to reel off more stretch goals, it grows in scope. One thing fans have been asking the developers about is if Eiyuden would feature the Unite Attack battle mechanic. To address this, the production team revealed their first "sneak peek" video for the game.

Eiyuden Chronicle features a number of prominent figures from the Suikoden 1 & 2 era of the franchise, looking to take their passion for classic JRPG stylings and produce a game that acts as a love letter to that era, bringing that nostalgic feel, while modernizing some elements. Early shots of the game draw comparisons to Octopath Traveler, which similarly tried to reinvigorate the JRPG of yesteryear with gorgeous pixel art and an update to tried-and-true battle systems.

Having received a great deal of support from fans during the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, the team behind Eiyuden Chronicle released a short "sneak peek" look at the United Hero Attack battle mechanic, which fans of Suikoden will recognize immediately as the Unite Attack from the series. The attack involves multiple members of the party combining their powers to unleash a very strong attack on an enemy or group of enemies, akin to dual and triple techs from another classic JRPG, Chrono Trigger.

With a project like this that, for all intents and purposes, is a classic era JRPG developed with modern technology, fans want to see elements from those classic games included. A Suikoden reboot is something fans have wanted, and by including mechanics like United Hero Attack, Eiyuden Chronicle is very close to being that reboot fans have been asking for.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is scheduled to release in 2022.
