In a shocking and humorous April Fool’s Day announcement, the Project Eevee Twitter account showed off screenshots and promotional material featuring the Pokemon Eevee facing off in Tekken 7.

In the screenshot, a large Eevee costume is shown squaring off against Devil Jin, one of the returning characters in Tekken 7. While the screenshot is very clearly fake, the sight of Eevee and Jin fighting in a field of rubble is extremely funny.

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada even took to Twitter to discuss the “inclusion” of Eevee in Tekken 7. He noted that while he was worried about including the fluffy Pokemon in the game, when Eevee took the stage there was “zero discomfort” in having this adorable fighter present.

The Project Eevee Twitter is a promotional account which showcases Eevee in all of its glory in an attempt to sell more Eevee merchandise. The Tekken 7 crossover is clearly the next logical step in bringing Eevee into the spotlight. Bandai Namco and The Pokémon Company have been working closely recently with the release of Pokken Tournament DX on the Nintendo Switch and its subsequent DLC, including adding Blastoise to the roster of playable Pokemon.

On the Tekken 7 front, it’s not uncommon to see some crossover characters in their roster. Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV is joining the popular fighting game this spring as DLC. So while Eevee may be a bit of a stretch compared to most of Tekken 7’s roster, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility as a Pokken Tournament crossover. With the push to make Eevee more popular, we may see more of it in the future.

While you can enjoy Pokken Tournament DX on the Switch, unfortunately that is the closest fans will get to seeing Tekken 7 on the console. Harada noted that Tekken 7 likely won’t be on Switch any time soon.

While this Eevee crossover is just a fun April Fool’s prank, perhaps one day Bandai Namco may decide to officially include characters from the Pokemon universe. Until then, players will have to get their fix with Pokken Tournament DX.

Tekken 7 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and Pokken Tournament DX is available for Nintendo Switch.
