Edge of Eternity fans will finally see the JRPG released on home consoles following its delay in October. Developer Midgar Studio released a brand new trailer for the game earlier this week, announcing its jump to consoles in February of next year.

Edge of Eternity is a JRPG inspired by its most iconic predecessors, such as Final Fantasy and Xenogears, featuring turn-based combat and a fantasy/sci-fi setting. After the game's successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, its Early Alpha build was released on PC, where it remained in development until its full release earlier this summer. Though Edge of Eternity was slated for release on consoles this year, Midgar Studio announced in October that this release would be delayed until Q1 2022.

Now, fans have been treated to a new trailer from Edge of Eternity's publisher, Dear Villagers. The video showcases the title's combat in particular; much attention is paid to its grid-based mapping, attack animations, weapons, and wide variety of spells. It also hints at the Corrosion, a growing epidemic that turns organic life into mechanized beasts, forming the central conflict of the game's storyline. According to the trailer, Edge of Eternity is set to release for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, 2022. As an added bonus, the game will also receive a Cloud version for Nintendo Switch, which will release later on February 23.

These console ports will include every update and bug fix from the game's PC version. In addition, full Japanese voice acting will be available, a welcome choice for those wishing for a more immersive JRPG experience. The Japanese voice-over will also be included as a free update to Edge of Eternity's PC version, ensuring that longtime players won't be missing out.

Edge of Eternity was treated to a largely positive reception following its PC release, a good sign for its impending release on home consoles. The title goes to lengths to pay homage to the games that inspired it, even including music from Yasunori Mitsuda, composer of beloved JRPG Chrono Trigger. By combining classic JRPG elements with Midgar Studio's modern perspective, Edge of Eternity presents an experience that is both unique and familiar to fans of the genre. By presenting the game to a much broader audience-including the Nintendo Switch, which is home to a variety of other indie JRPGs-Edge of Eternity is sure to receive a warm welcome from console players.

Edge of Eternity is available now on PC, and will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch consoles in February 2022.
